RE: New additions to our local swan 🦢 family

Oh that is a shame. We get the odd goose here, but the swans go into attack mode and chase the goose away, I think the most I have seen at any one time is 2 geese and they are no match for 2 swans.
They are majestic, that is one of the things I like about them.

The problem is the number of Canada geese we have. I've noticed a drop in the number of other native birds like Mallard ducks, coots, and moorhens. The Canada geese need culling, but many local people like them, so it would take a brave official to even suggest such action.

When I was up in Orkney I noticed that they have goose hunts, they should do that down your way.
I remember they used to cull the seals too. Invasive species upset the local ecosystems and need sorting out.
We are lucky in so far as the moorhen numbers have increased this year as have the coots, the mallards are pretty steady.
