Going bonkers for conkers in Beveridge Park in Kirkcaldy Scotland

Hello Hello Hivians

It's actually Spring Bank Holiday Monday today but I wanted to finish the walk from Wednesday which you can find the first part... Thank you HIVE for the bollocking and then the second part ... Greenery abounds in Beveridge Park in Kirkcaldy Scotland in May

So this then is Part C and running the bush gauntlet

If you remember we were being asked for our paperwork as we were trying to leave Beveridge Park in Kirkcaldy.

I left you here ....

image.png

This is the inspection tree, he always bends over to inspect your paperwork.

He really is a remarkably flexible old soul, and I hope I can bend over like that when I am his age!

He of course waved us through and told us about the wonderful flowering horse chestnut trees further on in the park.

With all this talk of conker trees I was starting to go bonkers!

"We shall see them soon" said Mrs T

She grabbed my arm and whispered "Look over there!"

image.png

What the fluff said I, but can you see in the middle of the picture a pretty wee red robin was watching us from the perch of a branch.

It flew away as I went to take another pic!

image.png

I don't know about with you, but here the daffodils die away first and you can seem some of their dark green leaves in the picture.

However what you can really see is the yellowly dead long grass like vegetation is wild garlic. The woods smell wonderful with a vivid garlic aroma all over the place!

image.png

Right time is a ticking let's get a march on!

image.png

The first time I saw this, I had to write a story. What do you see? A gate in the middle of nowhere! I call it a portal, where does it goooo....

image.png

Well it looks like a fenced area, what do you think, a home for goats maybe?

image.png

Well there does seem to be some sort of sign, let's go closer and see if it is for goats or maybe some other animal!

image.png

Well it's a nice big area, could play a game of frisbee I think!

image.png

Woof Woof it's for doggies!!!

image.png

Do you have Dog Education Areas for dog obedience training in your area? I have only seen dogs play in there!

image.png

Shall we go and play?

Well No!!! We are on a mission, I am bonkers after all ...

image.png

There is where we are going, towards the bushy trees...
Let's take the path on the right.

image.png

Do you see the flowers on the tree?

image.png

Yes this is a horse chestnut tree...

In the Autumn they produce chestnuts or conkers we called them as kids.

image.png

They have very distinctive leaves and flowers too.

image.png

Is it just me, but is their simplicity their beauty?

image.png

Look at that tree, not only did we play conkers as a kid, we used to climb the trees. They were brilliant and strong!

image.png

Did you climb trees as a child?

You would be surprised how quickly you could get quite high off the ground!

image.png

I was getting hungry so time to head home.

Do you see the yellow balls on the poles?

image.png

This is what we call a zebra crossing. Aptly named with the black and white crossing. The amber beacons actually flash and motorists must stop to let pedestrians cross the road.

image.png

Time to travel through the time tunnel and eat dinner!

image.png

image.png

This is my submission for #magicalmonday which was an extension to my #wednesdaywalk from last week.

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your day!

FINALLY! I CAN TELL SOMEONE ABOUT MY FUN HORSECHESTNUT FACT WITHOUT RANDOMLY DROPPING IT INTO CONVERSATION!

You aren't the only bonkers one.

Did you know that horse chestnut leaves contain saponins? So you can literally wash your hands with them - scrunch, add water, lather!

Leaves of the European chestnut tree contain ingredients with the power to disarm dangerous staph bacteria without boosting its drug resistance, scientists have found. - Source

YEAAAH baby!

Oh wow!

I checked the source and that is mental. The leaves are cool and now I know they are healthy so to speak too!

Thanks River that was fun to know!

I know right! I discovered it during COVID lockdown. There was a huge tree outside my sister in laws! Glad you liked this awesome fact - now you can share it too!

Do I see lots of things? Hell yeah! I did.

I do not care àbout the fence being for Dog Education. I am weirdly interested in your first thought of it being a portal of some sort, hehe. Maybe I am going bonkers!

And about the tree climbing, geez, it is fluffy fun going tree climbing. I did a lot of it when I was little and was nicknamed, monkey haha. Right now, I don't think the name befits me anymore, but hey! We can't fluffy agree when I haven't climbed a tree, yet.😁

haha oh you make me smile my fluffy Balikis!

Monkey so you were a climbing monkey, now you are just a mischievous monkey as we say here!

The portal, oh yes I am bonkers, there is another portal on the other side of the woods too!

Hehe, I am glad the smile fluffy came.

Yeah! A mischievous monkey sounds super nice...hehe

I love portals, especially the ones that can take me to places I would love to visit.

Some lovely scenery there Ed. I also have a tree that we used to really batter to get those conkers down as a boy. It gave us so many and big ones too. Those were the days.

Nice conclusion to the walk. I've never seen a dog obedience area before - good idea actually. But it'll do for frisbee too !

Ah yeah a frisbee would be good and practice the disc golf lol

We have some dog parks near where I live. We have never taken Jovi there, but they look pretty cool. I have a feeling she would be afraid of most the other dogs.

This is what real adventures look like! The fact that you move around often taking pictures and making memories makes me feel good you know?
