Always look on the bright side of LIFE

Always look on the bright side of LIFE

I am an optimist. My grandfather says I was a born optimist.

I however, believe I learnt things as a child.

You know they say we copy learn. I mean what we see we do. My mother was a cheery soul, always a smile on her face and rarely had a bad word to say about anyone or anything.

My father once he had too many whiskies in him could be a right so and so.

I do though like to think that I learnt to pick his good qualities. One of them being unqavering unquestioning loyalty. If I am on your side then fluff me I ain't giving you or the fight up.

But I got sidetracked a wee bit, I went off on a wee tangent, so let's get back on track....

Always look on the bright side of LIFE

That is something that I learnt and it is something that I practice DAILY without fail!

I will come back to that song in a minute as it really is wonderful funny and sad all at the same time.

Incidentally it is from the 1979 film or movie Monty Python's Life of Brian

I am going to link the lyrics here go have a read if you can't amke them out from the song!

Right back to it....

Growing up back in the day (in Scotland anyway) we were made to finish what was on our plate or get no dessert.

There are millions in Africa who have not got what you have got, so count yourself lucky and finish what's on your plate, would be the standard line if we dared not to finish that last vegetable on our plate!

Were your parents like that?

Well mine were. Mind you I went to boarding school at 11 where the food was nigh on bowfing (now there's a great Scottish word for you!). So we learnt to cook ourselves or else we would starve.

Funnily enough that is something I learnt in childhood that I practise everyday and have done so for years and years!

That could be my topic for this post...

But it isn't!

Being positive

I grew up being told by Doctors that there was nothing wrong with me, or that I had fallen out of a tree or that I had growing pains.

I went to hospitals in various places, I was the subject of much poking and prodding.

I remember at age ten in the Sick Kids Hospital in Edinburgh being on the bed in my underpants and some old arse telling about twenty medical students I was an unusual case but we think he is just lying.

What a fluffing arse and how to make a kid despise doctors!

Six years later after all these doctors and consultants telling my mother I was a liar they diagnosed a real shitty type of arthritis.

But all through this I leant I was alive. Every day people don't wake up. So no matter how rough I felt I was alive.

As my mother said Edward there is always someone worse off than you somewhere in this world.

And it's true, no matter who shitty you think your life is right at that moment, someone somewhere is going through an even shittier time.

So yeah I believe in positivity.

I then learnt about the Law of Attraction.

I would rather be a glass is half full guy ....

I am forever telling Mrs T that things happen for a reason, there is a silver lining in every cloud, sometimes we just need to look for it a little harder but it is there!

So just rememeber @deraaa

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad

or ...

Other things just make you swear and curse

Get your whistling ready .... and ....

When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best

And all together now ........

Always look on the bright side of life

Always look on the light side of life

I try to be optimistic as well, but it can be hard sometimes. Especially in today's world. I'd also like to think that there is a little bit of good in most people. Unfortunately, they often prove me wrong!

I'd also like to think that there is a little bit of good in most people.

I thought that as a kid until I hit my teens.

Whilst I give most people the benefit of the doubt, I learnt to be an instant judge of character, and over the years have been seldom wrong.

I was good until I started working in retail. Then I lost all faith in humanity!

I learnt my life in the hard way, so even I was and still am a very skeptical person, I could sing that too

Positivity is a mindset friend. Even when things get tough, echoing out positive words will take you far.

A mindset it is you are right (as you usually are my friend).
Or as my father would say ....
Don't let the bastards grind you down.

I totally agree with you that no matter how bad your situation is, someone somewhere is experiencing worse.

Looking on the bright side of life is important as we live in this world. It makes us have hope no matter how bad things get.

Well that's definitely a good quality to have. Too many people are negative and so positive people like you are precious!

I agree, there are many a lot worse off than we will ever be. Half glass full all the way!

If I am on your side then fluff me I ain't giving you or the fight up.

That is an admirable trait that I personally and I'm sure all on the #silverbloggers team know for a certainty, Ed!

I read the comments about that song and saw it's one of the most popular songs at funerals in Britain - happy and sad!

Like you, I do try and see the bright side of life, but how you still manage this with constant arthritis pain, is truly remarkable.
