Hive makes things happen in the real world - Have you made a difference?

Introduction

There are lots of things on Hive where Hive or more importantly, the Hive Community makes things happen. I did a post a while back about when Wittys house burned down and lots of people clubbed together or when Draconian Overlords account got stolen. These are things that affected individuals actual lives and because of the strength of community and support Hive was able to make a difference to their lives.

There is also the Hive borehole project which is an amazing example of how Hive can make a massive difference to many, many people. These things do not happen by chance. these things happen because of the strength of the community and the inherent trust system that is built into relationships which develop on Hive.

Making a difference

So recently an opportunity came to the Bro's on discord. An opportunity that would allow Hive again to help a lot of kids in Nigeria get healthy, have focus and play football. Now obviously someone coming and asking for financial support is always something to treat very carefully, especially in the crypto world. However, when olaexcel or Well man has he is known on discord came to us asking for help, because of the way the Hive community works we could clearly see who he was and his accounts. Also because of the nature of trust and reputation on Hive we could also ask around to check he was an honest and legit person doing something good for others. Once we had established some level of trust we wanted to learn more about what he was doing and learn a bit about the project. We found out the team was called Joy4me and involved a lot of players of different ages. I asked him to set up a new account and do an introduction which he did and you can read here:

So once we had agreed this was a worth while project we set out to do a few things. Firstly to outline how we could help and the costs of things. Things are different in every country and we needed to know what he needed and how much he would need, so here he did another post outlining the estimated costs.

How we are going to help and you can too

Now the first thing we asked for was regular updates about the club. @brofund and us have reasonable curation projects and we said we would help them gain some sustainable income from supporting them with curation and votes. We agreed with Wellman that any income from posts would be delegated or put in saving to generate a longer term sustainable income for the team.

Now the second thing we are doing is raising awareness both on hive and with the Bro community on discord. Raising the profile and giving people an opportunity to get involved.

The third thing we agreed to do was fundraise and donate money to get certain things. Now the bear market is hard on all us and liquidity is an issue but we are going to try an donate regular amounts of Hive and HBD to start to fund some of the more expensive things on his list. We are planning on aiming for the Hive Sponsored Kits first which is the most expensive!
