Hive: What's Next?

Hive is constantly growing social platform that seeks towards advancing its technologies for better performance. The Hive we know now is far better and scalable as it has been over the years. There have been development of communities, HBD savings, tribe communities and 2nd layer tokens and also not forgetting being able to transfer resource credit without losing out your Hive Power.

With how perfect hive seems to be, there are still some things that would be great for Hive if it is possible to be incoporated. Everyone would definitely have something to say if they are asked how or what feature do they think that could be added to hive to make it better.

So here are the features that I think would be great if they were added to Hive.

My Thumbnails (24).jpg

𝖠𝖼𝖼𝖾𝗌𝗌𝗂𝗇𝗀 𝗌𝗍𝗈𝖼𝗄 𝗉𝗁𝗈𝗍𝗈𝗌 𝖿𝗋𝗈𝗆 𝗍𝗁𝖾 𝖾𝖽𝗂𝗍𝗈𝗋

I have thought about the fact that anytime I need a photo to use for my post, I go straight to Pixabay or Unsplash. I began to think it would be great if we could access their API from Hive, which would give us the ability to easily search for the types of photos we need here.

You can find something similar in Canva in the photos session. Canva has access to the API of Unsplash and Pixabay, which is why one can easily search for a free-to-use photo and then edit it.

With this feature, when one searches for a particular type of photo and clicks on it (just like the GIF option we have now), there can be an additional feature where it will immediately place the source of the image, thereby letting people know its source.

This way, it would be easier for people to search for photos, especially for newbies who don't know where to get free images to use.

𝔅𝔢𝔦𝔫𝔤 𝔞𝔟𝔩𝔢 𝔱𝔬 𝔢𝔞𝔯𝔫 𝔯𝔢𝔴𝔞𝔯𝔡𝔰 𝔣𝔯𝔬𝔪 𝔬𝔩𝔡 𝔭𝔬𝔰𝔱𝔰

One of the reasons why I envy people who make money from Youtube is that they can still earn from contents they created a long time ago, which is a different case here on Hive.

On Hive, after 7 days, one's post would not be able to make any rewards, and most often, people lose hope in earning from their post once the post is over 24 hours due to some curation rewards penalty.

I would really love it if we had such a system here, although I know that this is possible on these Web2 platforms because they generate ad revenue.

Then, if this is so, there could be an option where someone could choose to allow ads on their post in order to generate revenue for the author. This would support authors who do not earn much via upvotes.

This would be a great addition to Hive if I was asked, and people would begin to share their blogs with others more often so that they could earn through ad revenue.

ℌ𝔦𝔳𝔢 𝔖𝔭𝔞𝔠𝔢𝔰

Just like X (formerly, Twitter) spaces, it would be nice if hosting spaces was a possibility on Hive instead of having to use Twitter or Discord; everything should just be running on the chain.

This way, I believe it would be easier for people to get more awareness anytime a community is running a voice activity if the spaces are being held on chain.

I believe there are many more features I haven't mentioned, Feel free to share other features you think would be great for Hive if added.

I love these ideas sir. Some days ago I was looking for hive logo to use for designing a thumbnail for one of my post but I couldn't get any. I know it's because I don't know how to go about it because I have seen a lot of people using it. My point here is, if a provision is made on hive for us to get pictures, some of those images wouldn't be hard for us to get.

It hurts so much that sometimes after 24hours our posts becomes ineligible for rewards and after seven days it's another story, If it would be made ever green, it's going to put smile on most of our faces.

These are lovely point. Do you know Medium also has that feature where you can access photos from their editor? I once wrote an article there and was surprised to see I could download images from pixabay directly from the site without going to the main site. This will be cool on Hive as it can reduce the stress for us too.

Being able to earn rewards on old post is quite good too because one wouldn't lose hope when a post is going over 24 hrs just like me because I would have lose hope on such a post of getting any reward.

Then hosting spaces on Hive will be another amazing thing too. In fact, it would bring more attention on Hive from web2 users.

I agree with you especially on the 7 days reward. Imagine seeing a very quality post 7 days after it was posted and you trying to vote it because it really helped or resonated with you; but you couldn't just because the post is now more than a week.

Ads could also be used to increase earnings of very blogger here, most especially, ads that are related to the topic of post.

I also thought about direct messgae here on Hive and what benefits & features it would have.

These 3 points you discussed here are really thoughtful and interesting. Imagine sourcing pictures from here instead of going to pixabay and the rest? This will really make sense especially for newbies like you mentioned. Allowing our old post to still earn rewards is quite nice and I will be happy to see this upgraded and finally hosting space here. Now, where are the Devs? They really need to read this post

I like the points that you make especially about the old posts. Sometimes quality posts are overlooked and then 24 hours elapses very quickly. That can be discouraging for the authors. However, I wonder whether the reward pool could handle this feature.

I hope they find something to do with this... It would be really encouraging if old posts could still generate some money.
