The Bread to Remember

It's been a week of banger on this community as they kept on bringing very relatable topics👍
Here we are today with another relatable one again..... More For Less.

I've been going through some of the post entries and it was just what I expected, most person's bad experience came from online vendors and it's very understandable because you didn't have a feel of the products before you paid for it.

That's why mine is very painful then but funny to me now, it's not even online vendor but physical and not as if I sent a kid, I went there myself, lol..... It's all in the past anyway.

It was on a beautiful Tuesday evening a month ago while I was coming back from school and we stopped at the park to board the second bus that will take us to our hostels. It was already getting late and I didn't have anything to eat when I get home, so I decided to buy a bread at the park.

If you've been at the park which I know you have, you can testify to the number of shops that sells bread there, they're just uncountable.

I made my way to one of the shops and as usual what I asked him was, "Sir, When did they supply this bread?"
Without wasting time, the man said, "the car that did the supply just left now"

I laughed deep within because I know it's their usual way of holding customers to make sure you patronise them, but one peculiar thing about that response is that truly, the supply is usually not more than a day.

I quickly asked him the price for it and he said, #1000 Naira.

I shouted and asked how it skyrocketed from #550 Naira to a #1000 Naira already just in the few days fuel price was increased?

As usual the man was quick enough to tell me that the company use fuel in production and the supplying were done with vehicles that consumes fuel all adding to the production price and thereby increasing their cost price and so on and so forth

I didn't argue again because I knew the condition of the country wasn't favourable to anyone.

I paid the man for the bread and he ordered his apprentice to package the bread for me, the guy quickly entered inside the shop and came out with a bread he already packed..... I was about telling him that I needed the one from the outside which I'm sure they supplied just now as the owner of the shop said but just before I could say it, my friend called me that the bus was filled up and was about leaving me behind... The man reassured me that they are all fresh breads.
With no doubt I entered the bus and we left.

While the bus was on the way, I was already calculating how I will take the bread for the night with tea before sleeping.
To my greatest surprise, I brought out the bread when I went home and it already had an awful smell, I couldn't even have a bite of it at all.
I was very pained but there was nothing I could do for that night

You've got to trust me, I packaged it beautifully like I didn't even open it at all and patiently waited for the next day...

Upon getting to the park the next day, I didn't even buy the ticket first rather I went straight to the man's shop and when he saw me, he just packaged a new bread and gave me even without allowing me to talk.

That was when I became very shocked that he knew what he did and upon asking him, he told me his apprentice thought I was someone who just came around and was boarding bus to a different state...

In summary that it was a way of selling the bread that spoilt before they could finish it off knowing that someone travelling to another state would never come back just to return a bread.

I didn't even utter a word and left..
Till today, I don't even near the man's shop neither do I buy breads in a hurry again

It was a bread I will never ever forget.
