Oh come on!!!

I didn’t want to rant about this situation but the more I think about it, the more I just need to talk about it. I mentioned in my last post that I had gone to do some fitting to a dress I would be wearing for a wedding and the shop was closed.

Well I went back yesterday and thankfully it was opened.
When I got there, I greeted and sat down. I could see that they were cleaning up the sewing machines. I sat there for a while and no one said anything. So in my head, they want to finish the cleaning and attend to me. I was even happy because the place was usually crowded with people but today I was the only one.

After a while of sitting, the eldest amongst them greeted me again and as he continued to do the cleaning, he was telling me that they had just reopened after a weeklong break due to the Eid festivities and so they were cleaning up their machines. Obviously I could see that so I said okay.

Then he went further to say that they intend to use the whole day to clean so if I have any work for them, I should leave it and come back the next day.
So I told him I would be needing the outfit the next day so I can’t wait. He was like okay and that’s all.

Now I had to start thinking of new options. There was another place to get this same service done but I had never been there before but at this point, I didn’t have any option.

I got there and everyone was busy.
A man told me to sit and wait for a little while so I did.
After sometime, he got up to attend to me. I explained to him what I wanted to do, wore the dress for him to see what exactly I meant and I believe he got it.

He took a measurement of my height which wasn’t part of what I explained but what surprised me was he putting my dress on the bare floor. I later got to realize that’s how they usually do it but this was a shock to me. Like on the bare floor?????Ah

Like this is a new dress. He can clearly see the tags and everything still on it and he just kept it on the floor. He could have at least placed something on the floor before putting my dress there.
The did the same measurements on the dress and picked up a machine I’ve never seen before. In a blink of an eye, he had started cutting the dress🤦🏽‍♀️.

It wasn’t a bad thing to do but I didn’t ask him to. I know I needed that but I still didn’t ask him to.

When he was done, he gave it to an apprentice to work on.
At this point, I was just praying it doesn’t get messed up. This is someone that didn’t see the changes I needed to be made and he was just doing it based on what he was told.
After he finished working on it, I tried it on and it was still big. So he was asked to work on the right side cause the left side was okay.

I gave the thing back to him and he just sat there scrolling through his phone. The man had to ask him several times before he finally decided to work on it again. He asked and I told him again that he should work on the right side. I pointed it out to him and I went to take my seat.

He turned around and gave it to someone else to do.
When they finished, I wore it again and everyone said it was okay. I couldn’t really tell cause there was no mirror. I didn’t want to stress it so I just paid and left.

I got home at night, tried it on and then realized, he guy had worked on the left side twice instead of the right. 🤦🏽‍♀️

I wouldn’t be able to send it back cause I would be attending the wedding in the morning so I just have to wear it like that.
I knew it was a bad idea going there to do the fitting but who do I have to blame now?😏

Some Tailors and their bad services. It’s disgusting. This apprentice won’t go anywhere with the skills he’s learning if he don’t work on his customer service.

I hope you have something else to wear.

Some tailors are just not serious.
You should have taken your dress and left. Now they’ve messed up the whole thing. Sigh

I've never seen that machine either. Lol what is that?

I'm planning on giving my jalab to a tailor to do some small alterations for me, but reading this has me uneasy. I bought that thing for a lot of money and I'll be damned if someone messes it up.

😂😂😂😂
I don’t know the name of the machine too but it cuts really well.

I believe you have someone that you trust can do the work so just take it there
In my case, I didn’t have any other option
