A Weekend Road Trip to Southern Sweden | Exploring Norrköping | From Industrial Hub to Tourist Spot

Brahehus Castle Ruins

After travelling 125 km from Norrköping, we eventually arrived at Gränna and the castle ruins of Brahehus located along the E4. We usually stop here for a short visit on our way back to Stockholm, but this time we were heading to Jönköping and missed the exit. Rather than making a long detour back, we decided to explore the ruins on our way back. Notifying our family friends who were coming behind us by car, I told them to stop at the next pit shop.

With the sun still shining on us, we took a short ice cream break for the kids before I spoke with my friend about our next location.

Röttle Industrial Village

As an avid traveller and nature enthusiast, we always make sure to explore the hidden gems of every place that we visit. One such gem is Röttle Village, which has been on our list for a while but had remained unexplored due to some unforeseen reasons. However, this time around, with the help of my children, we managed to reach here and witness the breathtaking beauty of the waterfall that this village boasts about. Located just a few minutes away from Circle K Galgan in Gränna, Röttle houses one of the most picturesque waterfalls in its vicinity.

After parking our car at a designated spot, we embarked on a short trek through winding trails that led us to Röttleån, the site where this majestic wonder was located. Although it took us almost 27 minutes to cover this distance by foot, every step was worth it as we were greeted by stunning views at every turn.

The sound of gushing water echoed through these woods as if calling out to all those who dared venture into its depths.

But Röttle isn't only famous for its waterfall; visitors can also experience a true cultural historical environment here with 18th and 19th century wooden houses dotting its landscape along with industrial remains scattered throughout.

As we stood there admiring nature's marvel before us, it dawned upon me how grateful I am for moments like these when you lose yourself amidst Mother Nature's beauty and forget about everything.

The clock struck seven in the evening, we reluctantly left behind the awe-inspiring sights and scenery that had captured our attention for hours.

We made our way back to the parking lot, feeling both invigorated and exhausted from all of the hiking and exploring we had done throughout the day. Naturally, our thoughts turned towards finding a place to rest our heads for the night. We scoured various hotel booking apps on our phones, searching for something that would fit within our budget while also providing us with comfortable accommodations. After much consideration, we decided to leave for Jönköping city without booking a hotel, which was 35 km away.

Our journey is not over yet - there are many more stories to tell about this special trip! So stay tuned for my next blog post where I'll share more details about what happened next...

@shahzad-ansari Beautiful landscape, it looks like you enjoyed it a lot, I love the photo of the waterfall and the cassia next to it, it looks like a portrait.

I am surprise that you noticed the cassia tree next to the waterfall. TBH, even though I was there, I didn't notice it because I don't have much knowledge about trees. Thank you @lanoican for taking the time to leave a comment.
