A Summer Weekend Trip to Lahori Pizza in Sundsvall
As summer begins in Sweden, we treat every weekend like a vacation. Last week the temperature was around 28 °C. With such perfect weather, we couldn't resist planning a long drive. The drive turned out to be a bit longer than expected and we found ourselves in Sundsvall, about 300 km north of Stockholm.
A while ago my friend Waqas told me about a new restaurant in Sundsvall called Lahori Pizza. It's the first restaurant in Sweden that proudly promotes Pakistan with its taste, name and tagline. Even in a big city like Stockholm, Pakistani restaurants often label themselves as Indian due to India's strong brand recognition. But Lahori Pizza in Sundsvall stands out by embracing its Pakistani roots.
Curious and excited we drove straight from Stockholm to Sundsvall to support Lahori Pizza. We found parking right outside the restaurant, which was a great start. As a talkative person, I usually dominate conversations but the owners of Lahori Pizza, a friendly Pakistani couple, immediately struck up a lively conversation with us.
One delightful surprise was seeing the restaurant decorated with Pakistani truck art. This colourful art form has a special place in my heart. My PICS team and I have worked hard to promote Pakistani truck art in Sweden, so it was heartwarming to see Ali and his wife continuing this tradition.
Our Delicious Meal at Lahori Pizza
For our meal, we ordered a variety of dishes: Chapli Kebab Pizza, Chicken Tikka Pizza, Zinger Burger, Monster Zinger, and Lahori Zinger. Each item was delicious and bursting with Pakistani flavour.
Chapli Kebab Pizza
This pizza combines traditional Pakistani flavours with classic pizza. The spicy and flavorful chapli kebabs paired perfectly with the melted cheese and crispy crust. It was a delightful fusion that left us wanting more.
Chicken Tikka Pizza
A unique twist on pizza, this dish features marinated chicken tikka known for its tangy and spicy taste. The toppings were generous and each bite was a burst of rich savoury flavours.
Lahori Zinger
This burger adds a special Pakistani touch to the classic zinger. With additional spices and a hint of traditional Lahori seasoning, it offers a unique and tantalising taste experience.
Each dish at Lahori Pizza was crafted with care, bringing a piece of Pakistani culinary heritage to Sweden.
Our spontaneous trip to Sundsvall turned into an unforgettable experience, thanks to the warm hospitality and fantastic food at Lahori Pizza. If you find yourself in Sundsvall, a visit to this unique restaurant is a must.
