Exploring The Local Market in Malaga Spain | An Exciting Day Out In A New City
It's been a tough few days at the European Cricket League in Malaga. We've lost three out of four matches so far, and my sneakers had been ruined in the dusty conditions. But my sneakers being dirty had nothing to do with the loss, because I wasn't playing. But I had to mention the matches at the beginning of the blog 😁 . After a long day managing the team, I realized that my footwear wasn't comfortable at all.
The next day we had a match which was supposed to start at five in the evening. So I decided to go to the market and get myself comfortable footwear.
As usual, I woke up early in the morning and after breakfast inquired about the nearby market from the hotel reception. They gave me a map of the city and circled the nearby market and said you can go here, it's a big market.
Today was a whole day, so I asked the coach if it would be nice to go to the market with me. Taxis were parked right in front of the hotel, so I showed the driver the map and we headed towards the market. After about a 6 to 8 minute drive, we arrived at Arroyo De La Miel, Andalucia, Spain.
There were rows of stalls selling everything from fresh produce to clothes to souvenirs. I spent hours walking around, bargaining with vendors, and trying new things. I found durable sneakers for $8.
I even found Foot On Mars, Spanish footballer Isco's shop located on the same road. His mother runs the shop and my son Saif is a big fan of football, so I made a video and pictures of the shop and sent it to him.
After walking around the whole market, we returned to the hotel. When the team found out, some players expressed their desire to go to the market, thus I had the opportunity to visit the market twice more.
The second and third time I went, I bought souvenirs for my friends and family back home. I was very happy with my purchases.
The people here are so friendly and helpful, even though they don't speak much English. I haven't had any problems communicating with people here. Everyone has been so welcoming, and I've already made some great friends. It was a great experience overall, and I'm glad I had the chance to visit the market multiple times. If you're ever in Malaga, be sure to check it out for yourself!
