Seing The Best and the Blessing
Today has been one of those days.
From an alert going off at 4am to a few hours spent on hold on the phone with my bank getting some stuff sorted out. Just when I thought I had it figured out, I found out the action I took to meet a deadline for later tonight, was for naught. My transaction was placed on a 72 hour hold.
One of those times you scream bloody murder and then shrug until you can pick up the pieces.
As It happened today, there were plans for a friend to pick me up and a few of us getting together for a couple of beers. Definitely was glad of that break.
The friends who gathered are people who have mattered a lot to me over the last several years. I have always been a person who is pretty independent. I figure out how to do what needs to get done on my own.
In recent years some health issues and then the pandemic forced situations where I needed help. These people just reached out and said, ‘we’re doing this’ brooking no objection from me. And, quite frankly, I’d have been a prideful idiot to have tried to.
I happened across a quote from Helen Keller, “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart.”
The gift of friendship and caring that comes from that circle of friends is truly one of the best and most beautiful thing in my life. It’s forced me to move out of a comfort zone of self-reliance. Not from one extreme to the other, but in practical ways. It was a lesson in which I learned that depending on others does strengthen bonds.
Their caring reaches out from the heart and touches mine. There are some others in my life who I greatly appreciate in much the same way. It makes me feel truly blessed to have them present.
So the day started off frustrating but it ended reminding me, there is much light to appreciate.

friends that go out of their way are always very special and needed in everyone's life.
A true friend knows when no is no, and when no is not acceptable but leaves you with your dignity in tack.
I am so happy your friends had your back!!!
It sounds like things were really stressful initially, but it was all balanced out by good company. Good friends are worth their weight in gold. I have very few, but they are important. I am glad there are people who help you, but I have a feeling that you have done at least your fair share of helping in your time. The Universe doesn't always give us reciprocation, but it is really great when we have what we need when we need it.

I will admit, I’ve helped a person or two out here and there. Yes it ended up being a good end to the day

I've been blessed with the friendship of amazing people on and offline. Friday just happened to be some time spent with the offline ones.
Ditto... and I spent Thursday with a friend I have not seen in about 2.5 years. It was lovely catching up. !PIZZA !LUV
I'm in a position right no to be a support for a family member going through a challenging time. They are quite independent and don't want to burden anyone, so I've had to kindly inform them that it is okay if they allow their loved ones do things for them. What they forget is that there is beauty in both helping and being helped. There are times when we are the helper and times when we need a helper.
I'm glad you had a chance to enjoy a moment with dear friends. Times like those are good for our spirits and overall well being.
I've often been in a position to help others. For many years I ran a program that put together food and gifts at Christmas time for low income families. The community supported the project and the team of volunteers I led often would distribute over 100 hampers. It was a great project to work on.
