ThreeTuneTuesday - Divas

Hello music lovers! 🎵

It's Tuesday, time for #threetunetuesday, and a chance for me to share something I'm listening to.
I usually get the idea for what I'm going to post in the morning in the car, driving to work, and listening to some radio. And there was this girl singing who I hadn't heard in a long time. She brightened up a dull, rainy, almost autumn morning and I got a hint of what to post today.

I won't go into too much detail because I'm sure you know all these girls as singers and artists, and their songs too. But if anyone has discovered something new and likes it, browse around for more.

For those of you who are not (yet) familiar with #threetunetuesday or #ttt - these are tags you need to set when you post.

Today's #ttt features three singers, each one special in their own way, I've been following them since they started performing, they're divas to me.

Sade - Smooth Operator

Of Nigerian-British roots, trained as a fashion designer and photo model, Sade Adu began her music career in the early 1980s. Smooth jazz, soul and sophisticated pop are the genres in which she excels. She has won several international awards for her work and her albums are (still) high on the charts.
This song, Smooth Operator, is the second single from her debut album Diamond Life, released in 1984. The following year, the album won the Britt Award for Best Album.
I actually met her with this song and I knew immediately that she was an exceptional singer. I was drawn to her throaty vocals and have loved listening to her ever since.

P.J.Harvey - C'mon Billy

Polly Jean Harvey or PJ Harvey is also a British artist, multi-instrumentalist, poet, singer, and composer. Her first album Dry in 1992 attracted the attention of music critics who labeled her alternative Marianne Faithfull or Patti Smith.
Since then she has only climbed the charts. She has also collaborated extensively with other well-known musicians such as Thom Yorke, Nick Cave, Josh Homme, Mark Lanegan, and others.
The song C'mon Billy is from her third album To Bring You My Love.

Siouxsie And The Banshees - Kiss Them For Me

Siouxsie Sioux or Susan Janet Ballion is the lead singer of Siouxsie and the Banshees, a band from the English punk and new wave scene, active from 1976 to 1996 and occasionally later.
Initially more into punk, but without any particular breakthrough, they became one of the more successful British bands of the 1980s when they changed guitarist and drummer and moved more towards new wave and alternative rock. Many younger musicians also refer to the Siouxie as the originator of gothic rock.
I first heard her when I got their 1987 album Through the Looking Glass, which is a collection of covers, and even after almost fifty years I still think her cover of Iggy Pop's Passenger is at least as good as the original.
Kiss Them For Me is a single from the 1991 album Superstition, and was a mainstream chart hit in the US.
