Wednesday Walking With the Solstice

My entry for the #wednesdaywalk community, as hosted by @tattodjay.

The summer Solstice officially made its way to this part of Wisconsin at 9:57 AM. I knew I would be "at work," as usual, and getting away for a walk at that time would be impossible given the needs of my narcissistic boss. So I got up early and headed back to the quarry to get a walk in. And celebrate a bit, I guess.

As I've gotten older, I've grown more fond of the holidays of old. I guess one could call them Pagan in nature, but I just think of them in terms of the Sun in relationship to us. It's a profound feeling to think that our ancestors, for thousands of years before us, knew that days like today were special. The least I could do was meander around the old rock quarry and enjoy the morning sun on it's annual cycle.

Today, if I recall my book reading, is the day the Sun turns into a strong, young hero. After today, it's all downhill until death with the winter Solstice, and then rebirth again. I definitely could feel the Sun's strength this morning in low sky. One could say I almost felt it's power through its ray. A wonderful feeling? Absolutely!

And all trails in the quarry led to the old quarry wall. One did wonder (well, I did at least today), how many times the face of this quarry felt the rays of the Sun on Solsticies? When did the original rock became exposed to the Sun? And how many people have spent their Solstice mornings here, like me, basking in the raw light, celebrating a very deep, human experience?

Yet not all was such heavy, thankful thoughts on this #wednesdaywalk. I did break out the Crocs for my daughter! She bought a pair of sparkly Crocs with butterflies, and she insisted I get a pair of Crocs too...I passed on the sparkles and went for the all-terrain ones. Hey, not too bad! Comfy!

Thanks for checking out my #wednesdaywalk. Hoping everyone out there had a peaceful and enjoyable Solstice too! Until next week!

Looks like an awesome walk man, I definitely have been trying to appreciate and get into the important celestial events of ages past like the solstice, equinox and others. We need to reconnect with the planet and how things have been for millenia instead of trying to think that we are the best things since sliced bread. We are very fragile!

Have you heard of or do you listen to Randall Carlson? He does some amazing work and podcasts, and I've been listening to him a lot. He's one of the most fascinating dudes when it comes to a lot of this stuff. His podcast Kosmographia is incredible! I made the mistake of starting at the end and working backwards. I flipped it and now started at the beginning and it's full of some incredible historical stuff, lots of celestial things and just information that's so interesting because it's the actual historical records not the agenda-driven bullshit we see today.

I picked up a book about pagan holidays at the public library, and all the old feasts and rituals for them..fascinating! I wish I could say I keep up with them; I want to , but like you said...modern times are rubbish, lol.

I have not heard of him...sounds right up my alley though. Subbing it to now on my podcast player, thanks!

Awesome! I highly recommend Randall. He's a brilliant man and he's got so much knowledge, a lot of it is related to the history of earth, how the ancient civilizations were brilliant people that many nowadays are trying to subdue for some strange reason. The Sphinx, pyramids and many other things and how unbelievably precise they are are things he talks about, and how it takes a brilliant people to perform such tasks. I stumbled on him about 2 years ago and have been hooked since!

I wonder how much the "pagan" stuff is actually just forgotten religions. Before Christianity took over, there was another one that name is slipping my mind that was the most popular in the world and was quite profound in their ideologies. It was pagan in that it appreciated a lot of the celestial stuff and helped steer a lot of innovation and knowledge. It's a little surprising, but when you think about it not at all, that we hear virtually nothing about this ancient religion that was replaced by Christianity.

I feel like Christianity really snuffed a lot of what we knew and believed in, sadly. Celestial mechanics guided our ancestors, and the Church sadly just came in and incorporated it.

Are you thinking about Gnosticism? It's a fascinating one..the original conspiracy theory of them all! Or the Chaldeans? I used to read a bit about it quite a lot, but got burned out. So much history lost to us. You think about the rumors of texts and info beneath the Vatican. if only we could be privy to some of it, lol

Maybe it's the Chaldeans. I don't remember, it was on one of Randall's podcasts that he talked about it lol. I've listened to I would say 10 of them over the past 2 weeks. A lot of information floating around up there! When I hear it again I'll make sure to stop by!

Yeah it's pretty crazy what people do in the name of religion. I see it occurring today, with the modern religion being "science". Anything against what they say is heresy and you will be persecuted if you say anything to the contrary. It's quite remarkable but follows all of the same lines as a religion.

yeah, sadly it's all about the money with science, corporations, news narratives...it's exhausting, lol. Even going to my annual physical is exhausting.

I got two downloaded for work - looking forward to it!
