My #wednesdaywalk share, as inspired by @tattoodjay.

What a winter, and what weather. Just when we thought spring was here, we managed to get a decent snow storm in the area. Snowflakes were thick and heavy, and the roads were bad and slippery. Most Wisconsinites, I would guess, forgot how yucky Wisconsin can be in the winter, and decided to enjoy the storm from their home. I decided to get out and visit my most favorite local hike in the area…the local, abandoned quarry.

Look at the contrast between prairie grass colors and snow. There had been a number of controlled burns in this area the past two years with the intent to kill off invasive plant growth. With the burns and plants removed, the prairie grass is back. And very prominent…always a good sign that things are returning back to their native states.

The wind was awful, and my face was feeling it. Every time I took off my gloves to snap a photograph, the burn hit. I too, apparently, am out of practice dealing with cold, Northern winters. Yet I bared it out, and enjoyed the scenes around me as I was the only person within miles of the quarry that day.

Again, what colors in the midst of March! I love my greens, but these photos make me happy every time I flip through them on my photo archive.

Thanks for checking out my #wednesdaywalk share! This one was a good one for me…and it made me feel good again about getting outside in poor weather. I hope you too had a good walk this week as well!
