Beer Saturday : Modelo's Pacifico
For this #beersaturday adventure, I decided to mix it up. With heat and humidity in the upper 90Fs this weekend I chose to go with a Mexican lager. A brief review online before I headed over to the grocery store to pick up some lump charcoal led me to the Pacifico.
I love my hazy IPAs...a LOT. Yet with a dinner plan of grilling veggie kabobs and chicken on the charcoal, I opted for something a bit lighter. And lighter, it is...
A far cry from the hazies I enjoy so much; this beer looks like a light beer. Yet, at 4.5% ABV, it should be. It's actually a pretty clean beer; I don't smell or taste any corn adjunct on this one. It goes down pretty smooth, too. I'm pretty sure I could put the 12 pack down today, but I opted not to as I don't want to use the bathroom all night. Still...a crisp clean lager engineered by German brewmasters in 1900...it's not a bad summer beer at all.
So, what did I grill for the family while slugging a few of these Mexican lagers down? Chicken, of course!
We prepped the legs and thighs with salt and pepper. After firing up the charcoal, I threw the veggie kabobs and chicken on. Thirty minutes later, after applying more of my Father's Day BBQ sauce, the final product looked as such:
Mushrooms, onions, cukes, and BBQ chicken. It's a Wisconsin July classic; we sconnies now how to do it right sometimes.
Thanks for checking out my #beersaturday story! A day late, but hey, it's still the weekend. If you want to join in the fun, please take a look at the link below :
I had a lot of these when I headed for Mexico. Either drink great beer, or lots of it! ;)
Awesome selection for a delicious looking BBQ my friend!
Lol, I drink so many of these weekly I could start my own watered down brewery using just my urine. Ok, that's gross, but for real...I had like 6 today just while golfing. Then 2 more at my buddies bar after. Ever had a cielo rojo?? Google it, try it, delish.
whoa, that looks like a fantastic drink
Pacifico is pretty good; nice and clean for the BBQ - anything else you might recommend for those of us still in the North?
It's a nice changeup between having so many pacificos all the time...
There are other variations like the Michelada and the chelada, all just have minor differentiations. A guy from Cali had me make him his fave MX drink which was a corona (drank down right below the neck) then topped with a shot of tequila, 2 oz of OJ, and a splash of grenadine. It wasn't too bad, but you can really taste the tequila. I suggested adding some cranberry juice to help kill more of the tequila and I liked that version better.
That chicken looks so good
