Some of you may already know what the Driftless is, but just in case you don't and are interested, here is a quick description of the area I live in :

Picture valleys carved by time and rivers that whisper ancient secrets. Welcome to Wisconsin's Driftless Area, a landscape untouched by glaciers, where nature reigns supreme and adventure awaits around every bend.

Cheesy, sure, but maybe you get the idea. How did it come about?

About 15,000 years ago, glaciers swept across North America, sculpting the landscape. But the Driftless Area? It somehow missed the event. Sheltered by highlands, it escaped the flattening touch of the ice sheets. This glacial dodge left behind a stunning legacy: ancient, rolling hills, deep valleys, and dramatic bluffs. These features predate most of Wisconsin's landscape, like a living museum untouched by the Ice Age.

Ok, ok, are you sold yet? Well, for this Wednesday's walk, I thought I share some photos I took on a family walk on top of one of these bluffs. So here we go...

Looking at those orange hues, you'd think it was last fall or early spring...but no, that lack of snow is what it looks like here in early February. Not all the snow has left, however. Take a look, I found proof!

So there you have it...February, Wednesday Walking in the Driftless Region. If you could ever find the chance to make it to this part of the world, I'd highly recommend it. And let me know if you...I'll meet up with you and buy you a beer (or coffee)!

And look at that...no crocs!

I have never seen such a beautiful area. The color of the sky is like the flowing sea. And this bushies area presents quite a beautiful view of nature
