Nature's beauty, as above, so below. I'll be the first to admit I wish I knew how to do proper astrophotography. I love watching videos online highlighting a Messier object being photographed from someone's backyard. It's a beautiful thing to see. Nature and the universe, aeons away, hidden in plain sight in the night sky.

In the absence of photographing nebulae from our backyard, I've resorted to finding beauty in one of nature's amazing creations that are truly "in our backyard." And that beauty is the Mississippi River.

The Mississippi River, a liquid titan snaking its way through the heart of America, is more than just a body of water. It's a living tapestry woven from nature's grandest threads, a symphony of sights, sounds, and stories that have captivated hearts for centuries.

The images here depict some algae that was floating on top of the Mississippi's waters. Like little universes, or the surface of Jupiter, or even the texture of the cosmos, replicated on the surface of the mighty river.

It's a beautiful thing to be able to capture something so wonderful with a cellphone camera.
