A Frigid Wednesday Walk
My #wednesdaywalk share, as inspired by @tattoodjay.
My 2024 resolution to get a walk and share along the Mississippi River stays intact! Albeit it was a cold day to keep the streak alive. A very cold day…
This area is typically filled with trees lined with bald eagles. Hattie and I took the Sigma telephoto lens out to scope out the trees (well, more me), and she, her binoculars. It’s a thing we do occasionally, and with the sun out, it was as good as a day as ever.
No bald eagles showed. I guess that wasn’t surprising given all the ice and snow on the low-level bodies of water in this place. You can see from the photos that the snow had indeed fallen on the area. My guess is that the eagles are now gravitating towards pockets of water where the current keeps ice from forming.
Yet despite the lack of wildlife, the cold views were impressive in the late January afternoon sun. White and blue…some of my favorite views of the Mississippi River in the Driftless area.
As for the cold? Well, we only managed maybe five minutes out along this stretch of water. A few quick pictures from the Pixel, a bit of complaining on my daughter’s part, but then we hopped back into the warm car. And with all that excitement completed, off to Panera for dinner we sped. There is nothing like using a bit of mac and cheese to bribe one’s daughter into getting a #Wednesdaywalk in…hey, I have no shame!
Thanks for checking out my #wednesdaywalk. Hopefully, everyone had a wonderful Wednesday as well!
Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk :)
Have a great day :)
