A Canadian Goose in Action

(Edited)

While the family was busy running around on a nearby playground, I snuck off to the marsh with my camera to see if I could any more herons about. I walked the trails for a bit with no luck; then suddenly I heard a bunch of splashing in the marsh water, and around a bend, found a Canadian goose thrashing around in the water.

I know they can be ornery buggers, but I honestly don't mind them. Sure, they like to hiss at me when I walk by them; sometimes they'll even charge at me. I get it...they are protective parents when their young are around. On top of all that, they make the most noise, all of the time...still, I do appreciate seeing them in the wild.

I love the look of this one's eye...it was almost if he/she (I'm assuming it was a male) knew I was taking photos of them from nearby.

Once all the fun was done, it went back on its way. The experience was very gratifying for me; I felt almost privileged to be allowed to photograph the goose in a moment that didn't require it to be aggressive towards me. Almost honored, I dare say...

The moment still sits with me. I doubt the memory will ever erode from my head!

Thanks for checking out my #featheredfriend post. More photos to hopefully share soon!
