How do you know that you are making the best use of your phone?

Gone are the days when writing on paper was the order of the day. But now virtually everything can be done digitally. You want to do your assignments, read a book, watch a movie, or play a song. Say no more, Your phone's got you.

To make things much better, some virtual assistants can help you do things all your phone. All you need to do is tell them what you want and the answers would be provided.

My phone has helped me a lot and still doing so. The day I was able to type out examination questions for my students using my phone was when I knew just how powerful technology is.

We now have some homes going almost paperless because everything they need is on their phones.

The use of my phone for storing information has no doubt helped my minimalist lifestyle better. Who needs stacks of papers when everything can be scanned into my phone and sent wherever it is needed while in the comfort of my home?

What part of your life would suffer the most damage if your phone takes full control of its operation and turns on you?

There is no doubt that there sure would be consequences when people spend too much time on their phones.

There was a time when I couldn't even imagine not having my phone with me.

Something happened one day. My phone was down as The Power Holding Company decided to play a fast one on us and there was s total blackout as the power grid was down.

That day my phone was off, power banking for the first time at 0%. The fuel price was way out of this world but I didn't bother about it and went to get some fuel but it turned out that the generator was having some kind of fault. Alas, there was just no way for me to charge my phone.

So with everything down, I tried doing some house chores to keep me busy while hoping for the power supply to be restored but it doesn't seem like the power would be restored anytime soon.

After my chores, I decided to go charge my phone manpower banking from the shop close to me where people pay to charge. After I got back home, I thought of what to do to keep myself busy, I tried reading a book but I must say that I wasn't assimilating a thing as my thoughts went back to my phone.

It was as if I was cut out of things happening in the world. I was pacing back and forth. I tried sleeping all to no avail. I closed my eyes hoping I would sleep off but nah, that wasn't happening. It dawned on me that I had given my phone too much power over me

How I felt that day, I wish never to feel that way again. The inability to operate my phone left me feeling like a part of me was lost. Never again! I told myself.

Now I try my best to strike a balance online and offline. I watch television rather than watch movies on my phone alone. I also read some books in hard copy, play games and many more.

What about privacy? Most of us give access and permissions to different apps on our phones not knowing if it protects our privacy or not.

If our phone decides to turn on us and start "malfunctioning", some of us have a lot to lose. That's why It falls to us to protect our privacy.

Hello, Big Sis. I'm sorry for showing up late to share my thoughts on your entry to this month's edition of The Thinker's Corner Challenge.

The things you wrote about the use case you are enjoying with your phone remind me of how I got through university education by getting soft copies of some of my academic materials instead of the old school way of paying thousands of Naira to photocopy materials.

I already didn't have enough fund to get a hard copy of all the academic materials I needed. However, my phone made it easier to have access to soft copies and that was a lifesaver.

You made an interesting point about the protection of our privacy. These gadgets can go wild someday. So, making sure that we don't expose too much of our private matters to our gadgets is very important. That's a way to save ourselves from being too vulnerable if these gadgets decide to turn on us.
