Bad Album is the seventh studio album by American singer and songwriter Michael Jackson. The Bad Album was released by Epic Records on August 31, 1987, nearly five years after Michael Jackson's previous album, Thriller. The songs on the album were written and recorded between January 1985 and July 1987, and were produced by Jackson and Quincy Jones, with Jackson co-produced and composed all but two tracks.

The album incorporates pop, rock, R&B, dance, funk, soul and hard rock styles. On his Bad Album, Jackson adopted an edgy look and sound that departing from his signature rhythm-based style and high-pitched vocals. Additionally, Jackson also experimented with newer recording technologies, including digital synthesizers and drum machines, resulting in a sleeker and more aggressive sound. The album also features performances by Siedah Garrett and Stevie Wonder.

Bad Album was one of the most anticipated albums of its time because Michael Jackson fans waited 5 years for a new album. And the album sold over 2.25 million copies in the first week in the United States, debuting at number one on the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart, staying at the top for six consecutive weeks. Six singles charted in the top 10 of the US Billboard Hot 100. Additionally, the album reached number one in 24 countries, including the United Kingdom.

Upon release, the album was compared to the Thriller Album by critics and listeners, with Jackson's vocal prowess and Bad's richer, more polished production being particularly praised. The blockbuster album became the best-selling album worldwide of 1987 and 1988. It sold 25 million copies worldwide in 1991, becoming the second best-selling album of all time behind Thriller. So Michael Jackson had two best-selling albums at the same time in 1991, and I think Jackson fully deserved this amazing success. Additionally, Michael Jackson's first solo world tour, The Bad tour, grossed $125 million, making it the highest-grossing solo concert tour of the 1980s. Jackson also gave 123 concerts to 4.4 million audiences in 15 countries.

Currently, Bad is the 12th best-selling album of all time, having sold over 35 million copies worldwide. It was certified 11x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in the United States in 2021. The album has also been named one of the greatest albums of all time by many publications. It was nominated for six Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, and won Best Engineered Recording – Non-Classical and Best Music Video (for "Leave Me Alone"). In 1988, Jackson received the Billboard Spotlight Award for his record-breaking chart success on the Billboard Hot 100. Additionally, Jackson received the MTV Video Vanguard Award for his Bad videos and previous videos from the 1980s. And to celebrate the 25th anniversary, the documentary film Bad 25 and the album Bad 25 were released in 2012.

In my opinion, Michael Jackson is simply a Legend of all time, he is gone but he still lives in our hearts. I would really like to hear a few more new songs from him. My father loved Michael Jackson very much, he used to tell me that there are 2 types of dancers : Michael Jackson and others. Whenever I listen to Michael Jackson, I think of my father.

Frankly, I love all the songs on the album, but if I had to choose one, I would choose "Smooth Criminal" because it is like a sleek, exhilarating action sequence of a song that's unlike anything else in Jackson's catalog. Imagine the GIFs, memes, and X (formerly Twitter) comments if “Smooth Criminal” were released in 2023, it would be so interesting, right?
