Wow, I can’t believe we are in our 6th week of the hive learners newbie initiative.

This program has been of great help to me. This week's task is about blockchain games. Let’s get into it

What makes blockchain different from other games?

Blockchain games are games created on the block, these are crypto games that give their users tokens as they progress in the game. Likely, the Hive blockchain has a couple of games built on it. We have the Quest for Stoken, splinterlands, Gods unchained, etc.

With other games such as FIFA, Call of Duty, and the rest, you play to entertain yourself without getting a reward in return.

But with blockchain games, aside from the fun part of it, you get rewards such as crypto tokens and NFTs. These tokens can be used in purchasing characters in the game, they can also be used to trade for other tokens outside the games.

Upon the arrival of the hive blockchain, a number of games have been developed on the ecosystem where users on have usually go to entertain themselves and also earn some tokens.

The followings are some games built on Hive and the tokens they give:

• WOO Game: The acronym means wresting organizations online where users on the block go to create their characters and also wrestle with other players on the blockchain. The token for the WOO Game is woo token, users also get the chance to earn an NFT reward.
• dCity: The dCity is about users building their cities and in doing so, the cities they built generate income for the user. The token for the dCity is the dCity token, users also get to earn NFT.
• Splinterlands: The splinderland game involves arranging your cards for battle, the splinderland can also be found on the hive blockchain and its token is Sps and Dec.
• Gods Unchained: The Gods Unchained is more or less just like the splinderland, in the Gods unchained you get to attack your opponent with your strongest card to destroy them. The token for this game is flux and star.

Are NFTs important?

Yes, NFTs are important because they play a larger role in the blockchain. With the NFTs cards, you get to unlock special characters. You also gets to own a special in game character which can be later on trader for real cash. Having an NFTs clues hidden in the game gives the users something to look up for which keeps them engaged.

My take on playing Quest for Stoken

---

The Quest for Stoken is a 2D action adventure game created on the hive blockchain. Users of hive gets to login with their hive accounts and then giving full access to all the features in the game. When the game starts, the character in the games appears to be riding a skateboard holding a sword and a flag and is on a quest to kill all aliens and monsters he comes across on his way. Though the game is a trial version since it is still in development due to some challenges users faces when playing.

Keys in the game:

The arrow keys on the keyboard are for movement

The space bar key is is for jumping.

The Z key is for shielding yourself against any attack from your opponent

The F key is for attacking

We also have a special key which is X used for used for special occasions such as opening a wallet or lighting a born fire

Users of the blockchain gets to earn some hive dollar when playing the game.
The developers are slatehive community and Gnar Dao.

The Quest for Stoken is really a fun and an entertaining game to play and I can hardly wait for development to complete and the game will finally be lunched.

The blockchain games are not just games one play for fun, atleast they give you purpose to play which is users earning tokens after getting to a stage or completing a quest.
