Weekend Engagement - I Am A Matcha Lover!

image.png

What is your preferred beverage/drink when you go out and why?

For me, it has got to be Matcha!

I know it sounds crazy but I am just a Matcha lover! Whether it is pure matcha, or matcha latte (i.e. with fresh milk), or matcha cakes/desserts, I am happy to try them! Some people have commented that matcha can be a tad bitter, but weirdly, I actually like that taste! Moreover, the green colour is just so cool!

Coincidentally, matcha has a lot of health benefits too! I think you can Google for yourself, here's just a simple summary that I found online.

So to prove how big a fan I am for matcha...

Recently I spent one week in Bangkok earlier this month, and I actually googled and went to different cafes and beverage joints to try out their Matcha! Fortunately, the good reviews on Google and social media didn't disappoint and I had an awesome time cafe hopping and immersing myself in my favourite drink while in foreign land.

Of course, a picture speaks a thousand words right? So here's what I have tried in just ONE week in Bangkok!

This is just pure matcha from a to-go joint. Refreshing iced drink.

This was one of my highlights! My travelling companion shared a hot beverage, a cold one, a cake, and also a Matcha Mont Blanc. I thought it was ice cream - until I realised it wasn't melting!

So I googled: A Mont Blanc is a dessert of sweetened chestnut purée in the form of vermicelli, topped with whipped cream. It was created in nineteenth-century Paris. The name comes from Mont Blanc, as the dish resembles a snow-capped mountain.

Learnt something new! Haha!

This was hidden in one of the cafes outside the city. The Chinese character represents Peace.

This had to be one of my favourites! The matcha banoffee was extremely tasty!! And the drinks were good too! The downside was that it's pretty hard to find and not really accessible by public transport so it's either Grab or some walking. Nonetheless it's worth it!

Might not be so clear from photos! But it's Matcha latte! This cafe was hard to find as it was quite secluded. What made this trip worth it was the ambience of the cafe - it had the Japanese vibe and it felt very calming and peaceful to chill there. The owners were very friendly too!

This was found in one of the big shopping malls. I bought this on my last day even though it wasn't on my list. It came with matcha flavoured jelly within the matcha drink and it was pretty decent too!

Of course, these are just a small subset of my matcha photo collection as most of them are the ones that I have taken in Singapore! Hehe!

So that's all for my sharing this week! Hope you enjoyed reading and let me know if you have any comments! Have a pleasant week ahead!
