Battle Mage Secrets - Regal Peryton Turned The Battle Around!

The theme for the current "Battle Mage Secret" challenge is Lost Legendaries ruleset this time! This means Legendary units may not be used but Legendary summoners are still available.

It's not always easy to get the specific ruleset, but if you play hard enough, you definitely can find one! This time I was lucky enough to have one - woohoo!

So here's the interesting battle that I encountered.

Anyway, I thought it would be still be interesting to introduce some useful cards and show how their strengths can be maximised especially with a particular ruleset. In this post, the featured card is a Rare Earth card, Regal Peryton!

Regal Peryton despite being a Rare card, packs some wonderful stats. At just Level 1, it has Flying and a high speed of 5, making it very hard to hit. Coupled with the popular Obsidian, its Magic attack automatically goes up to 2 Magic. At 6 HP, when partnered with Goblin Psychic or other healers, it can get pretty tanky, especially in low mana matches.

They say there is nothing more beautiful than a Regal Peryton. They prefer to live in the mountains all across the Splinterlands, rarely seen by others. When they soar through the skies, the sunlight catches through their wings and creates rainbows underneath them. Regal Perytons are highly intelligent and consider themselves noble guardians of the natural world, using their magic to help others.

With my favourite Water and Death choices out of the selection, I had to think of what element to pick given this ruleset. Earth has always been my weakest element, but I think with Lost Legendaries in play, maybe it will even the playing field for me and I opted to go with a basic Magic lineup led by Obsidian.

With Lost Legendaries in play, this means Epic cards are the strongest cards. Grund is a strong card in my collection and it's time for him to take on the tank position in this battle.

As you could probably tell, my card choices were very limited and I had to put a secondary tank to wait in the second position. Nectar Queen is extremely strong but it will only attack after Grund goes down.

3	Regal Peryton	5

Regal Peryton is the type of card that can cause a lot of problems for Melee and Ranged hitters on its lucky day. At 5 speed and Flying, it's extremely challenging to land an accurate hit on it.

4	Goblin Psychic	6

Goblin Psychic is the staple for any basic Earth lineups and this is no different for me. With Legendaries out of the scope, healing could be important.

5	Hunter Jarx	6

Hunter Jarx is another strong Epic card within my Earth collection, and its Snipe ability makes it a wild card because you never know who in the backline would be taken out by the Snipe hits.

6	Mycelic Slipspawn	9

Because mana is a luxury, Mycelic Slipspawn takes the last spot with Taunt ability and buys some time for the rest of the team.

• Pre Battle: When I saw the lineups, I was not optimistic because my lineup was very very basic and it's not by choice either. My opponent fielded pretty strong cards.
  

• Round 1: Both teams hit very hard in this battle and the damage output was on full display. I lost my Taunt card while both tanks stayed firm.
  

• Round 2: I still came up one card short at the end of this round. Both teams had Snipe hits, both teams had healers, so there was not much advantage from my bag of tricks.
  

• Round 3: I had no answer to my opponent's hits and two cards short at the end of this round. Is this the end for me?
  

• Round 4: This was my lucky day indeed as Regal Peryton escaped all the hits this round and I managed claw my way into the battle.
  

• Round 5: Regal Peryton hung on for yet another round and the rest of the team continued to pound the damage and surprise, it looks like we have turned this battle around!
  

• Round 6: WHAT A SUPRRISE! We are on the way to victory!
  

• Round 7: WHAT A WIN!

Post Battle

Did my strategy work? A simple Level 1 team did the trick as I said! It's really down to strategy, and a massive amount of luck with Regal Peryton! A really solid card!
