Diary of a foodie.//. A taste of regret

Let me share a funny but quite embarrassing story my friend once told me. So, Enjoy.

My friend used to work as an intern in a bank. As an intern in the bank, she's often used to get food for her bosses. Each time she buys food she can't resist the temptation of taking a little portion of it and no one will notice and it becomes a habit. A bad one at that.

Unfortunately, there was a day when her luck ran out. On that unfortunate day as usual her boss sent her to get food. She decided to eat her usual portion. She took a bite and realized that the food was exceptionally good she couldn't help but be tempted to take more than the usual portion, she even had the mind to take a bite from the chicken, like the audacity, lol. The food was so delicious but She had to stop herself from eating any further.

It was time for her boss to eat, and she realized that her food was absurdly small. Her boss asked her about it and she confidently denied it.
Her boss was even more angry when she realized that not only the food was small but also the person who ate the food had the mind to take out of the chicken. This makes her boss more upset even if other colleagues are telling her to let it go.

Her boss decided to call the security guy in charge of the cameras. The guy said he would look into it. My friend was now nervous and scared, she didn't know what to do. She stylishly asked the security guy if there was a camera in the storeroom. The security guy answered “yes” awkwardly. She was confused because she was certain that there was no camera installed in the storeroom.

She went out and waited for the security guy outside the office to clarify that doubt she had. She stylishly asked him again, and his reply was still yes. Her heart began to beat fast. She didn't know what to do because if there was a camera, then she was doomed. She nervously hurried inside and went straight to the store room, she checked and realized that she was right. “Why is he lying” she hissed.

She came back to the office to see her boss eyeing her suspiciously. Her boss confidently accused her of eating the food. She denied it again. Her boss asked again “Why did you ask the security man if there is a camera in the store?” she tried to deny it until she could no longer but was pressured to tell the truth. She was so embarrassed. She said she felt like the ground should just swallow her at that moment.

Her boss then bought the remnant for her so she could finish it. She couldn't even eat because of shame and she couldn't find herself throwing the food away either. Remembering how delicious it was and how she could shamefully devour it at home if she had taken it home. But she finally brought herself to throw it away cause it was a bigger shame to eat it.

When I heard the story I couldn't help but laugh even though it was very embarrassing when it happened, she was laughing at her stupidity while telling me the story.
But I told her she should have eaten all the food instead of wasting the precious food because it wasn't going to affect the embarrassment anyway or would it?
