There was panic in A-Z Bank Plc which led to the people moving up and down for the safety of their funds.

Tommy's wife was in a hurry to attend a special event where she would anchor the program and without her, no one can do it because it is the area of her specialisation which is a communicator but she had late for the program because she was supposed to be at the venue an hour before the program started and she was still on the road due to huge traffic.

Oh! I wanted to see this woman but the way I am seeing her, she was in haste to reach somewhere. What should I do? I used to go to work early every day. I was thinking about how to get her and my friend, Tommy, her husband was coming in my direction. Eh! Tommy, wait for me. Where are you heading to? What is the matter with you? Said the James.

Tommy: Friend, it's quite an age. Please, I am on my way somewhere, can we talk later?

Hey, you should hear me first because tomorrow may be too late. I wanted to send you to your wife. As you know that your wife and I opened an account in the same bank and the news just reached me now that A-Z Bank Plc is facing a lot of financial problems and to meet their customer's demands is difficult and there is a sign that the bank will fold up very soon. Many people had withdrawn their money from them. I have seen your wife but she was far away from where I was and I would have discussed it with her. Said the James.

Did you mean it? Oh, no, it was a joke. We are not in April, so what kind of prank do you intend to play on me? Please stop it. Tommy responded.

James: So am I becoming your comedian that will crack jokes to entertain guests. Is it that kind of thing they used to play? I am serious about it. Just convey this information to your wife.

Oh, my God! My wife had applied for a loan from a cooperative society and it has been approved and paid into her bank account. That's the same bank you were talking about. This is a great loss….if it is true. Let me just quickly go and inform my wife. As Tommy left, Jame was headed for the bank where the account was domiciled.

When James reached the bank, he saw multitudes standing outside and inside the bank waiting to withdraw their money and he had also joined the queue to do the same thing. But when Tommy got to where his wife was, she was still on the podium coordinating the program. "Tommy just found his way to her side and whispered into her ear silently that there is a problem oooh and we must talk now because the matter involves money you just got from Olubasiri cooperative society."

"Tommy's wife's eyes changed immediately and looked at her husband eyeball to eyeball. She handed over the microphone to another person to continue with the program, and she stepped aside to hear her husband very well."

Tommy, what did you mean? This place is not where you can make fun of me. What happened to my money? Is it the one they have credited into my bank account? Yeah, Tommy responded. It was the money I was talking about because the news I just heard is that the bank is facing financial problems and an inability to meet customers' demands. Thank God! It was my friend James I met on the road who told me everything, we would have not known what was happening.

Eh! Millions of dollars! This is debt, I am finished. The money I just got to boost my business and it will just drain away like that. We must go there right now!

Immediately, Tommy and his wife went straight to the bank to withdraw the money. When they got there, the large crowd was still hanging around the banking premises. Tommy said, "do you have the phone number of your account officer? Yes, Tommy's wife replied. You have to call that person to make it fast."

She dialled the number. Hello, Mrs Tommy. It has been a while since you came to our office. How is the business doing? I hope there is no problem.

Tommy's wife replied, "Yes, Mr Jude, there is fire on the mountain. Please, I need my money right now. If you refused to give me, I would spoil things here because the money inside the account is meant to expand my business. It is a loan from the Olubasiri Cooperative Society that I must payback."

Jude said, "madam, be calm. I will meet you in a jiffy."

"Oh! Thank God you are here. My husband and I were here an hour ago and I have requested to close my account but they are yet to give me my money." Said Tommy's wife.

Mr Jude cuts in. "Hey madam, I hope we didn't offend you. Has anyone offended you here?" Tommy's wife responded must you offend me before I will close my account. Okay, no nobody has offended me. Even I wish to see the manager of this bank.

They were in this argument, the manager met them facing each other while the account officer tried to persuade Tommy's wife and her husband to let the account remain with them.

Good day madam, I am the manager of this branch. I heard your conversation with Mr Jude and I came to check what the matter was. Madam, can we talk in my office? So that we won't create a scene here. Said the manager.

"Mr Tommy interrupts the manager, what else does she want to discuss inside? She wanted to close her account here and you said she should discuss it with you inside. Please, my wife, move your money! Move your money!! Before they will infect you with the inability to pay customers."

Ah! Mr Tommy, why are you talking like this? Madam is our important customer and we can't let her go like that without knowing what happened. Said the manager.

Tommy's wife was furious. Why won't he talk like that, the money I borrowed and I am yet to use it and the news just reached us that you are about to shut down the operation. Do you want me to fold my arm and watch my money go away just like that?

Alright, but, will you hear me? What you claimed you heard was just a mere rumour which will not have any effect on our financial institution because all the banks in this country had been insured by Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) and It was established to protect your bank deposits so nothing will happen to your funds. What we are doing is to protect our valuable customers and we have to treat you as such. Don't worry about the rumour, whenever you need your money, come we will give you without rigour or difficulty. Said the manager.

Tommy's wife concludes, Alright, if you assured me no problem. But nothing must happen to my money. Thereafter, Tommy and his wife left the banking hall.
