If there’s one thing i have always wondered and thought about in all my years of seeing Hollywood movies, it is the fact that how u is it possible for civilians to own firearms, not just a small pistol but a shotgun in some cases, is that not dangerous...
I literally thought it only happens in the movies and not too common in the real world but in the last couple of years I have realized how well I have been dwelling on tampered truth…
I came to realize that it is indeed a fact that some civilians in both my country and outside my country are given the access and permission to possess firearms…
When we talk about possession of firearms, I am not totally against its possession because it is a means to ensure one’s survival in one way or another but in some cases it is also a bad idea 👎…
Here in my country Nigeria, possession of firearms is not legalized but there are few persons that possess it and these people are mostly the armed forces and the rich men of the country, they mostly have the license to possess it…
Though I haven’t seen any rich man possess a firearm in my country but I have seen an officer with a firearm in his home for different purposes but when it comes to rich men possessing firearms, I think I am being influenced by nollywood movies in this case…
I think possessing firearms is partially needed in my country to ensure one’s survival, safety and protection while on the other hand I think it is not needed because of the law breakers with bad intentions…
Our security in this country is not something to write home about and that is why I think possessing firearm is needed for maximum security purposes but as I have said it is still not needed because of law breakers…
I believe if our country were to legalize the possession of firearms, a lot of things will happen lol, there will be several records of deaths if care is not taken, conflicts will not be resolved by words, it would rather be resolved with drawing out of firearms, the fact is that there will be uproar in the country due to this particular decision…
Things will get more worse, complicated, difficult than better because I know our people very well, they will never seize to draw out their weapon at any given Opportunity provided they have been given access to it…
Using myself as an example in this situation, if i were to possess a firearm, I would have killed countless people because of my anger issues(in the past), not only me but there are some other people who get angry easily…
Now imagine if everyone had the opportunity of possessing firearms, won’t it be like handing over a bomb to a suicide bomber heheh…
With or without rules and regulations guiding it, there will surely be law breakers and that is why I think it is better for it to not be legalized over here because of the mass…
In summary, it would have been better if everyone had a clean heart but forget it, everyone is bound to make a mistake and in this situation, any mistake will lead to countless death and that is why prevention is better than cure…
In conclusion, I would certainly go with the non legalizing of firearms in my country for many reasons and one of the most important reason is to preserve the life of our people which is the topmost priority here…

Yeah, there's so much tendency to abuse in this country. There's no way people wouldn't use it irrationally and hurt others. Acting on their impulsive emotions and all of that. It's helpful but we can honestly do without it.

Nigerians are not mentally prepared for possessing firearms and this is the only thing holding us back. Imagine two neighbors arguing and the next is going inside to get their guns.
The government on the other hand isn't capable of such an idea because they don't have the proper record of things going on in the country. In other developed countries, their government has everything registered and people understand that the use of it is for protection and not just fighting everyone in the neighborhood because you have a gun.
It would be a good deal to legalize it in Nigeria, a lot of people can protect themselves from being terrorized by bandits and all others but we are not ready psychologically as a country.
