Trekking Adventure in West Bali

There is a forest which was national park in West Bali. I was assigned to go there along with some travelers. There were local guides in the national forest who guided the trekking through the forest.

I have never been to this one hour trek, so it was a new experience for me as well.

We walk though a dirt road in between the trees for about ten minutes

Then though a small path between the bushes. There were different kinds of plants and trees in the area. The resort was responsible to maintain conservation in this area, that they planted new trees there. It could not be any tree, though, it had to be endemic tree that can only be found here.

One of the tree I was interested in was the Satin wood, locally known as crocodile skin wood. This wood is used for building and wood carving in Bali.

During the trekking, the local guides took us to see a giant squirrel on a big tree. The squirrel looked like a fox. I couldn't take a photo of the animal since it ran very fast.

The local guides actually worked for a resort located in the middle of the forest. The resort covered about 12 hectares land, and they are in charge of conserving about 125 hectares of forest of the total 400 hectares.

Finally, after trekking for about an hour, we reached the resort restaurant called The Octagon.

All the travalers walked through the gate heading to the main open building in the restaurant. I saw two deer walking to the restaurant yard, grassing. They were not seemed to be afraid of people.

The restaurant had an outstanding view of the sea nearby. It also had two swimming pool with crystal clear water. What a great place to relax.
