MY JOURNEY TOWARDS BUILDING CONSISTENCY

For a long time, I struggled with consistency in several areas of my life. Many times, I knew the tasks I needed to do and how I was to do it yet it seemed as if there was no motivation to do them. So it seemed easier to simply put that task aside until I feel inspired to tackle them. The implication of this is that I may have to rush when the stipulated deadline gets closer and sometimes, I'm unable to meet up with the deadline.

After experiencing this on several occasions, I realized that if I was to achieve my dreams, I needed to be more intentional about my level of commitment to them. Eventually, I decided to take concrete steps which have been paying off for several months now.

Firstly, I discovered that the reason I am unable to take the first step sometimes is because I set unrealistic targets for myself. It is good to have big dreams but it is better to work towards them in bits. Taking little steps is a lot better than not doing anything at all.

For instance, last June when I wanted to write a new book, I had to break it down into daily targets of 10 pages. In a month, I was able to write about 300 pages. There were days I wrote about 15 pages and on other days, I could barely write five. I realized that the key thing is to keep going daily even when I'm not inspired. This was how I was able to meet up with the deadline I set for myself.

This has taught me that consistency is not just about doing the same thing with the same level of intensity everytime. It is not that simple. Consistency means showing up and giving your best even when you don't feel like it. That is how to achieve my goals at the right time.

I am glad to have discovered this golden strategy and I am working towards developing myself more daily. My dreams are worth it and I will keep on giving my best until I achieve them.

Thank you for reading through my article. Do you also agree that consistency is key?

Consistency is showing up indeed. Give your 100% towards your goals every time and yes that may be at different intensities as we may preoccupied with other things in the meantime. Any step is a step forward, keep going! Good job and good luck on your book, I hope it works out for you. xox

I have struggled with inconsistency for a very long while.
I was chief in procrastinating until I joined hive. I realized that I was been rewarded for been consistent with daily blogs and other activities. Taking this to my outside life I decided to reward myself with little things for accomplishing most task.

Even when I am short of motivation to do so, I will remember that I promised myself a special treat at the end, that was my key and some other things that has helped me to become consistent.

Yes, Hive has a special way of helping one imbibe consistency. It is funny how we reward others when they do well yet we sometimes forget to reward ourselves too when we complete a task. Thank you for sharing your strategy.😊
