What Do We Expect From Hive and Crypto! .:. Recap of Hive Humpday Hangout Ep.24 (2024-06-12: HHHLive Show recording)

Life is full of ups and downs, and our show also has ups and downs... πŸ˜ƒ After a fantastic show with Detlev last week, we had an "ordinary" show where we discussed certain topics connected to our Hive journey... Last week we had almost 20 participants, while this week we had half of that... You can't win every time... πŸ˜ƒ But, despite that, we had a lot of fun, and got off topic many times during the show, but still, I think that we had a valuable discussion... I learned something new, so I'm happy... πŸ˜ƒ

Recap of HiveHumpdayHangout 24.jpg
Created in Canva.com

Maybe the topic was a bit too hard (as someone said in the comment section that it's an "elephant in the room") and not everyone wants to discuss it, but the #HHHLive show is perfect for those things... We talked about heavy stuff in the past and we will in the future... It would be nice to reach the stage where the show is a starting point for some big discussions about the HIVE in general! We can't ignore the elephant as we will stay without the space for breathing... πŸ™‚

As the participants were shy and quiet, most of the time I was talking, but luckily, it was busy in the chat channel, so I didn't talk to myself... πŸ™‚ I began the show with my thoughts about expectations and how they evolve during our journey on HIVE (but also in our stages of life)... Sometimes we lower them, sometimes we have higher...

The only person who came in voice this time was our new/regular participant, @relf87! He shared his story of how he came to Hive through Splinterlands and how his expectations changed during his blockchain journey... From a timid Splinterland player, he began to create content, consumed tons of the content when we were in the C19 phase, and all that changed his view and expectations from HIVE!

During his talk, he mentioned the question that raised a big debate a year (or two) ago, What would happen if there was no curation and author rewards on HIVE? Of course, we had to discuss it and share our views regarding that...

Liotes Divider Blue.png

Later on, @mypathtofire opened Pandora's box regarding Web2 and Web3, so we went in that direction too... (too many offtopic this time, but that gave a nice engagement! πŸ˜ƒ) I shared my story when I was deep in Web2 with owning websites and trying to monetize them through Google Adsense... It was different before, but it got much tougher and I would say, more fierce in the Web2 world... Before, you could make it with an average website and we had many fish in the ocean, but today... If you want to make it in the Web2 world, you have to bring millions and millions of visits, fill those pockets of advertisers, and maybe then, you will get your small cut... But, even then, you have to remind yourself that you are not the owner of your content and you can be shut down at any moment!

Close to the end of the show, we switch the topic to Hive-Engine tokens and our expectations regarding them! People shared their favorite tokens in the chat and we talked about them... It was nice to read news about some tokens that I didn't know, and that's why it is great to exchange info with each other!

Don't forget to check out the show recording below!

We had 10 participants (including myself) in the show this week!!! Thanks for participating, @foxkoit, @melinda010100, @misticogama, @mypathtofire, @nabu.doconosor2, @palomap3, @relf87, @trexane, and @travoved! Thank you guys and girls for the awesome time!

As usual, we had an after-show which wasn't recorded and the atmosphere got even looser... We covered a lot of other stuff and did a small AUA (ask us anything) session... πŸ˜ƒ If you want to participate in these, you gotta attend the show live! πŸ˜ƒ

Liotes Divider Blue.png

Thank you, guys and girls, once again! As a sign of appreciation, I will send some LEN tokens to all participants of the live show! You can pair them with LENM tokens, add liquidity to the diesel pool, and earn rewards! If you want to learn more about the project behind it, check out the @liotes account or visit the Liotes website... Of course, if you are not interested in it, you can sell tokens on the Hive-Engine market...

To encourage more people to come on the mic, I have sent an additional 100 Ecency POINTS to people who shared their thoughts in voice with us! This time, only @relf87 came on the microphone to share his thoughts, while others did it in the chat channel... So, this week, Ecency POINTS are going to @relf87!

Special thanks goes to @melinda010100 and @good-karma for providing the space for the event!

Thank you for your time,
--ph--

Always a great show! Sorry I couldn't participate more... My daughter was here installing smart light bulbs so that I can turn them on and off with voice commands. I was needed to be available to talk to light bulbs! 🀣

Hahhaahahaha! Wow! I saw that only in movies, but you are living a dream! You can talk now with your light bulbs! πŸ˜ƒ

Thanks for participating! Appreciate it!

As my MS progresses my kids try to make my day to day life easier for me. Technology is quite wonderful and allows me to be able to live independently! If I don't answer you immediately it may be because I'm trying to figure out which command to give to my light bulbs! I can even tell them to change color and be lavender or yellow or green!

Thank you @ph1102 for making the recording available....looking forward to listening!

Regarding the curation issue...I think Whaleshares is an excellent example of how a good idea is implemented then misunderstood and subsequently falls apart....it took a few years.

Interesting you mentioned Expectation and Motivation....there are Principles for both...one is ...Have no Expectations....and the other ...Motivation is an inside job...which will be posted next.

Kind Regards,

Bleujay

You are welcome!

and regarding expectations, you are right that it's best to not have them... But even if we say that we have no expectations, usually, that's not true... πŸ˜ƒ

As I said in the post, the show went in the other direction, and it was hard to get it back on track... I suppose the topic was a bit complicated to grasp or to talk about...

The show was interesting, I always say the same thing, everyone has different opinions, motivations or experiences and we can learn from each other. πŸ˜ƒ

It's an interesting show. I also joined because of Splinterlands and the lockdowns. I just ended up showing up and spending time here. I liked how it went and that is why I stuck around.

As for the curation/author rewards removal, I don't like it but if it did happen, I think a lot of people would leave. I would stick around but maybe I wouldn't post as much though because I like the engagement.

It looks like many of us came here because of the Spliterlands... Despite that now the game is having a hard time, it was a great tool for HIVE onboarding, as we are living proofs of that! πŸ˜ƒ

I think that in shows like this, the conversations we start from the essence of the topic and start with the idea that it has nothing to do with the topic create a more humorous atmosphere on the participants. πŸ˜ƒ

It is not easy to become a presenter of radio programming when everyone is silent. I congratulate you. You are very successful in this regard.

Awww... Thank you very much for your kind words! πŸ™ ❀️ I truly appreciate it!

I'm struggling a lot during these shows, and I know that I have a lot more space to grow... But, I'm doing my best to keep the community around it, and to add value... Not just me, but all participants of the show!

It would be great to see you live in these shows... You are always welcome to join!

You are welcome! There are shows where people are "inspired" to talk, and sometimes is like in this one, not too many willing to come up and share...

Thanks for participating and sharing the stage with me! πŸ™‚

Nice show, @ph1102 - sorry to hear about your post-erasure disaster!

To answer the question about how we came to Hive... I came here via the ClickTrackProfit community, and only started playing Splinterlands a couple of years later... when I discovered the high (at that time) interest rate that SPS was paying out! So I went in the opposite direction to some of the other commenters!

Interesting! I know that many people also did the Splinterlands the other way around, but I suppose that not many shared that...

Thanks for checking out the show recordings! It would be great to have you live in the show, but I suppose it's too late in your place?

Cheers!

Huh... Occasionally, we have a guy from Singapore and I think he said that it is 1 AM for him too...
As Hivians are all around the globe, it's impossible to find a time that suits everyone... 😞 Plus, my personal time is also a challenge... lol... πŸ˜ƒ

What would happen if there was no curation and author rewards on HIVE?

I actually love this topic and would gladly join the conversation if it comes up again. The time slot for HHH is a bit tricky for me as it's mid morning and I usually have clients, but I'll jump in whenever I'm available. Love the topics and the vibe.

See you soon!

To be honest, when I heard the idea of removing author and curation rewards on HIVE, I was immediately against it... Now that time has passed by, I have some second thoughts, but I'm still not convinced that HIVE is ready for something like that...

I'm sorry about the HHHLive airtime, but that's the only one when I can do it... I have similar issues to you, the rest of the time, I have full-house... πŸ˜‚

I'll jump in whenever I'm available. Love the topics and the vibe.

Thanks! It's always great to have you!

Regarding your comment at the beginning about writing your announcement post twice, at least you haven't withdrawn your delegation to your own account by mistake... twice, as I did.

6 days after the recording... I'm getting more and more... inefficient.

I saw your post where you wrote about your delegation mistake... an unfortunate thing... but it happens...

6 days after the recording... I'm getting more and more... inefficient.

I have to admit that I was confused by your comment... especially as we did a show today... lol...

Yep, I'm always behind. I've just read your announcement post (from yesterday) for today's show.
