Far Away From Home .:. Benissa Walk

Do you remember my last #WednesdayWalk post where I finished my walk at the last point of the Calp, at the Bassetes port? Well we will continue the walk today, but now, we are in another municipality, leaving Calp and entering Benissa... What is interesting is that the town center of Benissa is over 10km far from this point, and it's not even on the coastline, but inland...

01.jpg

I suppose that all houses that are closer to the beach are built in the last 60-70 years, but we will not see any house on this walk... 😃 exactly how I like the most... No urban buildings, no traffic noise, just the sea, birds chirping, and the sun... It was around 9:30 AM when I was there, but the sun was on 100%... Sweating mode activated! 😂

02.jpg

03.jpg

As this trail is part of another town, you can notice differences almost immediately... There were many benches where you can take a rest, enjoy the view, read a book, or play Rising Star... 😃

04.jpg

Another interesting thing was these banners where you can learn about this part of the Mediterranean Sea... As I began my walk from the end of the route, numbers were going down... As you can see, the last "stop" (parada) was number 6 (as a matter of fact, it was 7, but I didn't take a photo of that one 😃)...

05.jpg

How handy that there was a map and you can exactly know where you are... That was also something that I didn't see in the Calp's part of the coastline trail...

06.jpg

On this part of the route, there were no beaches and the sea was almost inaccessible from the land...

07.jpg

08.jpg

More banners about the protected terrains around Benissa, but also more about the plants in the surroundings... I was wondering how these plants can survive in those harsh conditions... Sun in the summer is burning everything, there is no soil at all, only rocks and stones... How they can grow at all?

09.jpg

It looks like this tree has no problems growing in the middle of the trail... Nice to see that humans didn't pull it out!

10.jpg

11.jpg

13.jpg

When I was at this spot, I had a phone call from my sister, so I went down to the water... When you are looking at the photo, you probably think how great is that "beach" and accessible... But, it's NOT! What you can't see is that this isn't sand, but rather very "rocky ground", and it has very sharp edges... Don't know the real reason for that, but it looks like the salt from the sea did that... Luckily, I was there in sneakers, as if not, I would probably cut myself multiple times!

14.jpg

Another banner about the people who were/are living in this town and how the environment was shaping their lives...

15.jpg

16.jpg

17.jpg

And for the end, just a fantastic view from the shade... 😃 At this moment, the sun was in its full zenith and I was searching for every piece of shade that I could find... After this point, I turned back and did the route back to my car... This time, no coffee at the bar... Straight home to take a cold shower... 😃

I hope that you found these "coastline walks" interesting, as I'm having a lot of fun exploring new places! Will try to continue my journey and maybe one day, cover the whole coast of Valencia, or at least Alicante province! I suppose that nobody did that and it would be awesome to have something exclusive like that on HIVE!

Thank you for your time,

~ph~

Yep, keep those coast walks coming. They are awesome.
I love when they put up so many information signs along the paths.
So beautiful to see the views. One day you will have covered it all 😎
Thanks for sharing. Have a great trip 😋

Thanks! I'm glad that you like these ...walks! One great thing about Spain is that almost the whole coast belongs to EVERYONE! There are no private beaches or similar stuff and you can walk wherever you want...

And agree about those signs... I like to learn about the history, plants, and animals of the area...

You are welcome 👋🏻😊
Yes, that is one thing that is great. No private beaches… although not many if. I do know a few military areas around Cádiz city and Tarifa we couldn’t go to.

They are wonderful.

I hope you guys can sleep tonight 😉 let’s hope the bells stop ringing…

Sweating mode activated

Not my favorite mode! lol
Great walk and seeing more of Valencia /Alicante would be cool.

Thanks! Luckily, we don't have "freeze mode" here in the winter... That would be worse than the sweat mode... 😂

Mr. Sun is up and ready to make you sweat a little bit more! Nice weather for a walk. Having this amazing view along the coastal lines makes the walk even more worthwhile. Thanks for sharing this beautiful place.

I suppose that the best time for a walk would be in Spring or Autumn... But, it wasn't that bad... You get used to it...
I'm glad that you liked the walk! Thanks!

It looks like a mini rock of Gibraltar.

I knew it was not a sandy beach, but all beaches are awesome in my opinion. Being a sea lover I don't mind if sand rocks or pebbles, they all have their own quirks...

Back in the Philippines, I used to wear slippers when going to the beach. But on the coastline of Benissa, I prefer to wear sneakers. The whole time I wear sneakers even going to Calp and Benidorm.

hehehe... I prefer sandy beach as I don't like to wear those slippers... That cost me a few bruises every year... lol...

Hehe right. It's more difficult now when I need to carry one child so need to wear reliable footwear.

The water looks like something you could dive into. Judging from the sun rays, you could exactly tell that the sun would be extremely hot. One fall in such rocky place might leave a person severely wounded. It's beautiful though.

In this part of Spain, we don't have many big ports and I suppose that's the main reason that the quality of water is great! I know some people that are using seawater for cooking...

Wow, sea water for cooking? I've not heard that one before, the water must be extremely clean. Maybe I get to leave Nigeria some day.

It depends on the part of the year... I think there are multiple factors for water clarity, not just pollution, but also some natural processes in the water!

What a nice walk along the coast. Walking with the view of the sea is always nice. And it's great that there are those information points along the route. Keep it up, and you sure will cover the whole Valencia coast sometime soon :)

I know it is not easy to access sea when around an inland because too many rock and sharp areas. I was around such a place last year. However, there were beach and a path to access inland :)

It's great when there is a mix of different coasts... Beaches, cliffs, rocks, stones, etc... Diversity rulez!

It looks like you had a great time exploring the coastline of Benissa. I love the photos you shared, especially the ones of the rocky beach and the view from the shade. It looks like a beautiful place to walk.

I'm impressed that you were able to find so many benches and information banners along the trail. It's clear that the town of Benissa has put a lot of effort into making the coastline accessible and enjoyable for visitors.

Benissa is actually an inland town, but it looks that they appreciate a lot their "sea part" as they out a lot of effort in that trail, banners, benches...
