Consistency Matters .:. Hive Humpday Hangout Ep.17 (Wednesday, March 13, 5 PM UTC)
This announcement post comes much later than previous ones, but I hope people interested in participating will see it and attend the show... It came late as I was struggling with the topic for the show... I had a couple of ideas and a problem deciding which way to go, so this topic is what you can see in the title, but we will go more in-depth and probably have a mixed-topic show... 🙂
After 5 years on HIVE, you would say that there is no chance that you can have issues with consistency, but you are wrong... After seeing so many things in HIVE, going through different phases on the chain level, on the community level, and also on the personal level, you think that you have seen it all... But, there is always something new to learn, some new story to hear, some new point of view to create...

As the HIVE price is going up, we are getting more and more old Hivians coming back to the platform, grinding back into the community... It is hard to come back... I mean, you can come back, but how will the community accept you is another thing... Those who were here a couple of years ago could get those automatic upvotes immediately back, but engagement is a different beast... Personally, I do have some people who put me on automatic upvoting, but I'm far away behind some other "famous" Hivians...
The thing with going out and coming back is painful and it happens very fast... For example, I had a very busy week and I missed last week's show + I didn't have time to create content + I didn't have time to comment either... It was almost 5 days with just a couple of interactions on HIVE and I would wake up in the morning and see 0 notifications!!! 😱 😃 That is something that happens very rarely... I can't imagine what would happen if I would disappear for a few months!
On the other side, I remember the time when I was creating posts every single day... for months! I know that some of you are doing like that and I sincerely congratulate you! If someone didn't try it, it doesn't know how hard is to do it... Sometimes, it is extremely hard just to get out of bed, and imagine motivating yourself to create content every single day!?! By content creation, I'm thinking about creating posts that HELP others, that HAVE MEANING, that bring value to others...
Speaking of which, we can mention the other side of the medal... People who are forcing themselves to create content every day, without thinking of the content itself and its meaning to others... Content for the sake of the content... Comment for the sake of an upvote... Let's talk about these things in the show, too...

For the first time in these 5 years on HIVE, I have "muted" one person... I have a lot of patience, and I saw a lot of things and met many different people on HIVE... Those who are coming to the posts, leaving ridiculous comments just to get an upvote, to people who don't even bother to read more than the title of a post... From my point of view, they are timewasters... They don't just waste MY TIME, but also, they are wasting THEIR TIME as that behavior on this chain leads to nothing...
But, when a person is spreading lies on top of all mentioned, trying to deceive others, that is the line that I can't tolerate... Luckily, that doesn't happen so often and most people are normal... 😃 Finding just 1 in 5 years is a huge positive note for HIVE! 😃
How was it the last show? As I said before, there was no show last week, but we had a lot of fun 2 weeks ago, in the special edition show! Check it out yourself the Recap of HHHLive post... completely agree with you, consistency is important but it is not always easy to be consistent in posting and interaction because free time is often short and real life commitments are many.
On Hive it is much harder to find people who are annoying but a few have happened to me in the past and in these cases the muted feature is useful

You are right about that... I have realized that recently as I noticed that I don't spend enough time as I would like to on checking what others are posting and engaging with them... I suppose that's normal as our accounts grow, we receive more comments on our own posts, and we get new ideas to help others in different ways... In my case, this show, or Liotes, and many other things... all that requires time, but if it is more useful than the previous thing, I suppose it's good...

One of these Wednesday I'll be able to join in on the fun. Just need a Wednesday off work, haha. Interesting topic, consistency is tough for some. I believe there are different levels of it for everyone. One person's time is a big factor into it along with many other factors. Have a great time with the show this one should be fun 😁

I agree with what you said, consistency is important. Then how to divide your time to be consistent is very difficult.
However, if we are able to sort out what to do now and what to do later, I think this will be easier. With a fixed note on the talent content that you have.
Thank you for your words of encouragement, I am more confident in everything I do when creating content. By showing my content in detail, it is an effort to convey to the reader to repeat what I do easily.
This is probably the hardest thing to do... There are many "moving parts" that we have to juggle to keep the consistency up! Family duties, sickness, friends, work, etc...
As I can see, you are doing great! Showing by example how to create quality content and share it with others... ❤️

The time doesn't match for me. I'll watch the VOD later if you make a post about it. It's too bad to hear that you muted someone, but sometimes it's better just to do so. It's your right to do so and I think it's better than getting into an argument with someone else.
I suppose that using the "mute" option is just another way to save my time for others who deserve it more!
Hive Humpday Hangout is really great 😍 We believe it has hude potential to become the peoples Hangout.
What if you not only record the discord meeting, but also setup a video stream. The Hangout would livestream on Youtube (promoting Ecency ofc) or on one of Hives Streming dapps.
Also I think it's good to invite new people every week to talk and I would start with Community founders or community admins on Hive. Each explaining the purpus of their community and also promoting their community on Ecency.

Believe me, doing the show at the moment was HUUUUUUGE step for me to do it as I'm more of an antisocial person, than social.... lol... I was doing video content in the past, but for this type of, long-term format video, I would have to have dedicated space (which is the biggest concern even without the video), and some equipment for doing it... Maybe one day... :)
That is a good idea and we had 2 shows where we were presenting different communities, and one of those two was in dual language and it was a lot of fun... I will probably repeat it again, but yesterday another idea was born... to invite "ordinary" Hivians as guest, and not just "leaders"... IMO, that sounds even better... :) To highlight "ordinary" people who sometimes work much harder, but the work isn't visible and "marketed"...

It is a fact that when a person is working on a platform for a long time, he gets used to it and then one day he doesn't have to work due to some compulsion, then there is a lot of strange failure because I too. It has become a habit since last two years I work daily on this platform.
We'll hear each other in a few hours! You already know my experience about consistency. I was age to publish daily for 9 months until it no longer made sense of the effort it meant. Then I tested different frequencies and themes until I found a balance that I find comfortable and motivating. Not every day I have something to say and in them I prefer to remain silent. 😁
Speaking of silence, I am sorry that you had to use that function, but in certain cases it is the only solution. Yesterday I received a comment saying that by giving our time we are giving part of our life. And every day we have less left. That's why you do well by reserving your time and your life for what is really worth it. 😘
That is the whole point! The FREQUENCY of creating content doesn't have to be DAILY to be called consistency... We pick our pace, and try to be consistent in our timeframe! So, in a way, you didn't break your consistency by skipping days, but rather changing the gear... 😃 As I did the same, I can relate to your words... :)
Exactly! When I waste time on something that is not worth it, I'm pissed off as I could do it much better and spend it with someone that I care and someone who respects it!

I saw an old hiver coming back. Of course, it's nearly the bull market. Some are mostly dedicating to targeting the bull market as a period to come back, sell all through the bull market, go in the bear and come back when it's another bull market.
Yeah, that is the usual behavior of "coming backers"... It is sad to see that in that way, they just get 5-10% of the full potential that they could get by being consistently building in the bull and in the bear... But, that's how things are going... Some people listen and learn, others do not...
