Community For Better Living! .:. WorkerBee PH-Pool Week 176

I know that there are a bunch of youngsters on the thumbnail for this post and it looks like they are having a lot of fun... Of course, it is like that when you are partying with your friends, in your "community"! Well, this post will be about the completely opposite, about elders and their way of living... Is it possible to be as happy as these youngsters when you are 70-80 years old? Why not!

I have to share with you a great idea (which isn't just an idea) that I saw on TV, watching a documentary about retirement, pension funds, etc... (Yeah, older people watch documentaries, younger movies... lol... Not sure why is that. Youngsters want to escape to the imagination, and it looks like older folks have reality checks... funny-not funny... 😃) Anyway, I digress, the documentary was great as it was just a confirmation of uncertainties about the retirement funds that I had in the past... Interestingly, more and more of these things are coming out even on a "regular" TV and it was hidden for such a long time...

You probably know where the documentary went... It showed how the complete pension system is unsustainable, and how it has to be changed, but there are almost ZERO will to do the changes... Nobody likes to do the dirty work... But, that's not the point of this post... Almost at the end of the film, they presented different ideas (some are reality) about how retired people can have a quality life (as many at the edge of poverty), feel useful, have fun, and enjoy retirement... The reality is that a lot of retired people are living alone, forgotten by family, friends, and society... But it doesn't have to be like that...

There was a center for retired people somewhere in the States (sorry, I forgot the exact place), where people lived in the same building, everyone in their own apartment... It looks like a retirement home, but it is not as there are a couple of important differences, which in my opinion are great! The biggest difference is that people who are living there aren't "served", which means that nobody is cooking, cleaning, or doing stuff like that for them... They do it themselves!

Every day, someone else is cooking, and they go to each other to have a meal, a dinner... They take care of the small, local garden from where they have fresh fruits and vegetables... They help each other with cleaning, and they have different facilities for community hangouts... I know that it sounds like a retirement home, but when you get old and you start feeling abandoned, that usually happens because you stopped working, you have a feeling that you are not needed anymore... After that, life is decaying and it gets worse and worse, that's why it's important to stay active as much as possible, occupy your mind and body...

In the end, it looks like during our lives, we do create a full circle... But, there is one crucial thing that connects the dots... It is a COMMUNITY! It's amazing how big a difference it could make when you have someone to share your opinions, your problems, your happiness, your joy, your meal... Let this be a small reminder of the great community that we have here and to remind us to keep it alive! It is healing so many souls around the world, and I'm sure that it enriches the lives of many!

Let's go back to the report numbers! As the supply of WORKERBEE tokens is relatively small, and delegators to this pool are diamond hands 😃, the WB price went up and it reached its ATH (all-time high, at least, I didn't see the price over 3-4 HIVE ever)! That means that probably all of you are in profit just for HODLing the token for all this time! Also, it means that our APR numbers will look ugly as they are calculated by the current token prices... Of course, you bought them cheaper, so these numbers aren't too relevant for you...

The same as last week, we didn't have too much movement in the pool... A few small delegations from current members... Thanks for your delegations!!!

In the last 7 days we mined 101 BEE tokens in total!!! We were unlucky last week, so this time, Lady Luck was on our side!

This POOL doesn't have fees and you get up to 20% MORE by delegating to it!

What about the bonus tokens?
One of the rare tokens that didn't disappoint, is the LEN token... I suppose that it would be like the "last disappointment" if that happened as I'm one of the co-owners of the @liotes project that stands behind this token... The token price was tested last 2-3 months as of big whale sales, but it is creeping up slowly again... As it is connected to HIVE mostly, seeing HIVE going up too, it's a nice token to be in... :)

There will be distributed 75 LEN tokens to the delegators of the pool as a bonus reward today!

WorkerbeePHPool03.png

As always, in the end, let's give the exact numbers for this week... There will be distributed 101 BEE tokens and 101 LEN tokens as a bonus... The APR (without the bonus) was 5.678%, and when we added the bonus it went up to 6.863%!

I have calculated the ROI approximately with medium prices for all tokens at the moment of creating this post... So, those numbers are valid if you bought WB and sold BEE tokens at the middle HiveEngine price...

Do you want to sponsor the PH-Pool with your tokens, receive a short SPONSORED segment in this post, and raise awareness about your front-end or dApp? Please let me know in the comment section, or contact me through Discord or Twitter and we will find the best solution for both parties...

Liotes Divider Blue.png

If you want to join the WorkerBee PH-Pool, the only thing that you have to do is to STAKE tokens to YOUR account and DELEGATE your staked WORKERBEE tokens to THIS account (@ph1102)! Every week you will get your portion of mined BEE tokens and BONUS rewards!

.:. DO NOT STAKE TOKENS TO MY ACCOUNT!!! Just DELEGATE! .:.

There is also a man in my neighborhood. He’s retired and let me say abandoned by his family members. It’s really sad and unfair to see him doing so many things alone…

Yeah, that's happening more and more, especially for people who missed this tech revolution... Social media networks could help, but a lot of older people don't know how to use them...

I like this idea of community. We could do something similar in a different fashion here on hive... I need to share an idea with you one of these days ;-)

Oh, new idea! I like it! I was worried that I killed many of your ideas and that you ran out of them... We can discuss it in the next few days!
Can't wait to hear! :)

Wow wow wow, so lovely to see communities coming together like this. It's sad when elders feel abandoned, I think they deserve companionship and support, just like everyone else.

Everyone deserves to be valued and respected... I hope we will have more ideas like this to create a better future for our elders...

Exactly! All that is even important in older age... To feel useful and valuable!

The community does matter but I still think that most retirement programs won't work out. I just think that unexpected accidents such as health issues means that there needs to be a lot of money in your retirement fund. Also, with prices going up, I just don't think it will keep up.

Thanks for running the pool and for the BEE/LEN tokens

Not many people are aware that the whole retirement program system is unsustainable, but these small "tweaks" are implemented for a "deeper" level... As for having small pensions, or lack of health care, older people have an additional stress and anxiety of being margined by society... That's why it's important to integrate them back, into the communities where they can help each other...
It is a complex problem, but nobody will solve it for us... We have to do it ourselves...

Just being active, especially socially, helps a lot after retirement compared to the traditional notion of living a passive lifestyle. I think there's joy in engaging with people that keeps a part of us alive!

Exactly! It's hard to live alone after the death of your life partner, or without family around, and these "community solutions" can help a lot! Sometimes, money isn't the main issue, but rather the feeling of being alone and forgotten... That hurts the most...

Yes yes! It makes one sink into a depressive state where everything is looked from that pov, no relevance or importance given to the happenings of life.
