Looking for a good Offgrid pizza oven …

We have been looking for a good offgrid (propane) pizza oven for a while now.

We were looking at the Ooni on Amazon but after watching a few videos it looks like it is not easy to cook a perfect pizza in one of those things. (ooni: https://amzn.to/3pPTMFb)

At 900 degrees F you need to be turning that pizza every 5 seconds or it burns.

So when I was in town I checked out to see what they had at Canadian Tire and noticed this one on sale…

It has a turntable pizza stone so you can easily rotate the pizza to keep it from burning.

It takes about 90 seconds to cook a pizza at 900 degrees F.

This one was on sale for $399 but I’m going to do some more research.

The real trick is getting the dough off the pizza peel and onto the pizza stone. Without losing all the toppings … I don’t want to use too much flower, cornmeal or parchment paper…

Maybe we just stick with our metal pizza trays or pizza stone over the wood fire ?

Any recommendations out there ???

Stay tuned for more.

I like to keep one of these on my back when I venture into Central America. I wonder if there's an app that will allow me to order a pizza in the middle of nowhere?

In any case, I always carry some with me

That is so cool!! I religously use a pizza stone, but parchment paper works best with it. It probably wouldn't last with 900 degrees. What is recommended? The metal trays will warp. I'd be willingvto gamble on parchment paper.

We tried parchment paper in the BBQ with the stone and the pizza tasted a little like parchment paper or cardboard. They say the trick is to pull out the parchment paper after a few seconds … as soon as the dough starts to harden.

I would agree with that! I know it will burn under those conditions and most people are not willing to pull it out, but, I make it a little bit longer and it pulls out like a champ. I use the peel.

Easy as it sounds.
