POB photo contest: FRAMING
This is my first time joining the #POBPhotocontest, not sure why I haven't joined previously but this time - no excuse! Because the prompt is
Framing
I love framing my photos in many different ways and any way that is available at the time. It is not that I'm actively out looking for a frame but they kind of just happen naturally to me. Maybe it's just because I have been taking photos (and making photos) for a very long time. I started taking photos back in the days of films...
The three top photos were taken in Greece on the Cyclades island Naxos. We spent there our summer vacation going windsurfing, well, at the time I didn't because I had my hand and arm in plaster but that's a different story. We did many excursions including walking about the old town which is where the photos of the door and window were taken with a view of the beautiful Mediterranean Sea.
In the first photo, I framed the sun during sunset in the Naxos Portara also called The Temple of Apollo. This big gate was built of marble in ancient Greece, today it is the jewel of Naxos. You really cannot miss it.
I took the next three photos in California during different trips. The driftwood on the beach with its branches sticking out towards the sky provides a nice frame and point of interest to the surf rolling in onto the vast Northern California beach.
The next two show parts of the Santa Cruz boardwalk in San Jose, CA. I just loved the stark contrast of the colorful archways to the clouds looming so threateningly over the ocean. Come to think of it, maybe I should have made one of these the first photo for the contest - oh well.
You can't have the subject be framing and not use foliage. Low hanging branches and leaves oftentimes are a nuisance and I don't want them disturbing my photo's sky. However, used or placed correctly they can form a beautiful frame for your subject. In my case a sunset on Bonaire and the Swiss town Zug and its lake with the swans.
And last but not least I am sharing a digitally framed photo. The photo itself belongs to and is faestock and you should totally check out her work on DeviantArt, Insta, her website, you name it. She is a wonderful photographer and model and a lot of her photos are free to use given proper credit. Here I used her photo to work on my Photoshop skills giving her a highkey retouch and adding fancy make-up, this is her original photo.
And that's it. These are just a few of many of my framed photos, as I said
I love framing photos
Have a great rest of your day!
Cheers,
