The Life Of A Military Personnel

Hello Friends,

Looking at the world today, you would realize that the rate of crimes, chaos and war is on the rise among various nations. People have left the ways of peace, and embraced the ways of violence and oppression. It's now a matter of 'Only the strong shall survive'.

Infact, some citizens now feel that they are above the law, and their job is to bully and make other citizens to live in fear. But just as the bad guys exists with guns, so also are the good guys, trained to counter their cruelties.

Am in the Nigerian Army

I am a soldier of the Nigerian Army, whom have signed to sacrifice his life for the safety and well-being of my nation. I was trained to counter and kill terrorists that rises against the good people of my nation and the nations around me.

Alot of people outside the job are usually not happy with most military personnels out there, because they feel that they are being intimidated by them. But the truth of the matter is that everything we do, we are trained to do, all in the name of achieving peace and orderliness.

The best we would ever need from the citizens of our nations is to cooperate and respect what we do for them. Do you know what it means for a person to sign a contract of life or death? This sacrifice is far beyond salaries or allowances given to us.

I am currently serving in the South Southern part of my country (245 Recce Battalion, Afi Barrack, Ikom, Cross River State). The communal clashes faced in this part of the country is really disturbing.

My current location

As soldiers, we usually go to other countries around us for peace-keeping missions, something we merge with the United Nations (UN) to enforce peace. But the North Eastern part of my country is currently experiencing great insurgencies, and alot of my regulars and senior cadets are there for peace enforcement.

I can tell you for free that in recent years, the Army have lost many of her brave warriors in the fight for peace-keeping. Infact, just about 4 days ago, some group of Senior officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army went for a communal peace-keeping mission in Delta State, Nigeria, but just as they approached the community, they were ambushed by the violent youths of that community, and all 16 soldiers and officers of the Nigerian Army were killed and beheaded.

This shows that they are many unreasonable people in the world today. Else, how can you explain that you would kill the same people that have sworn and are working to protect you day and night. I wonder how the nations would have been, if they were no brave citizens to join the military.

It's usually traumatizing to see your best friend being shot in the battlefield, and you still remain in the job. No wonder we see soldiers dropping their riffles and running back to their village for their dear life's, lol.

Many people thinks our job ends in holding guns and fighting for peace. No, the Army is far more broad and accommodating than you could imagine. Every soldier is given the privilege to go for a course, and study a skill for some number of months or years.

Using myself for instance, although I have been in the military since 2019, I was given the opportunity to go the higher institution of my choice to study computer science, and now I have successfully graduated.

I got to know about the Hive blockchain from a civilian friend of mine, and so I have decided to start writing blog posts here, and to make it my side hutsle as well. Whenever I am less busy on duty, I would go on to blog. But they are days when I am burden with duties for days and even weeks, so my blog would suffer during those times, lol.

They say bravery is not the absence of fear, but the ability to keeping pushing forward inspite of your fears. So, although I could see the burdens that comes with my job, I won't possibly change my decision if I had the chance to. Instead, I would strive to become even better and attain higher ranks for the love of my nation, and humanity.
