How My Mindset Changed To Generosity

There's this saying which is now a part of my nature "I give out what I have to others, not because I am rich or too blessed, but because I know exactly how it feels to not have anything". Over the years, to the best of my abilities, I have helped and shown generosity to others, but they always try to take advantage of that, because they feel it's their entitlement.

I realized that most people do not always care about you, they are only concerned about what you are doing for them. But just when I decided to be heartless and wicked towards others, I remembered the times I received help from others, and how their kindness has shaped my life.

I have really been helped by God through many kind men and women. And their kindness has made me to equally show kindness to others regardless of their behaviors towards me.

There was this time I traveled to Kaduna, a faraway town from my base here at Cross River State. It was over a 600 km journey by road. It so happened that I had to take 3 different buses to reach my destination.

There was no vehicle moving straight to Kaduna from Cross River State, so I boarded buses in two other states along the journey. It was while I was on the third bus moving from Abuja to Kaduna, that I realized my phone and wallet weren't with me.

I remembered causing a scene on that bus, everyone had to join me in the search for my phone and wallet, but to no avail. We tried to call my phone, but it said switched off. That was when I realized my phone and wallet must have been stolen in the park, and by this time we had gone far from the park.

I was going to Kaduna for the first time, and I was supposed to go stay at my uncle's place for some days, before figuring out my next move. I had communicated with him before boarding from Abuja to Kaduna, so he was expecting me in an hour.

You can imagine how stranded I was when we got to Kaduna, as I didn't know what to do or how to beg for help. I had no cash on me, and now my phone had been stolen. I wished I had my uncle's phone number offhand, it would have been better, but I didn't.

But just while I was still in the park pondering on what I would do, one of the passengers that was with me on the bus approached me and gave me some money. He said a few people on the bus had contributed it for me, and they had left without me even saying thank you.

Ah, I couldn't believe my eyes, I was so surprised, I just stood there speechless. And just when I thought that was all, the man offered me a space in his house for the night.

It was from that day, that another side of me was unlocked, as I started viewing people differently. I would always find a way to do good to everyone who needs it, even to the ones I don't trust.

A friend of mine came to me one day and asked me to borrow him some money, but I told him that I didn't have money to borrow him then, which was true. I later heard that he went about gossiping and disrespecting my name because I didn't help him.

This nearly unlocked the beast back in me, but whenever I remember how those passengers helped me, my heart would melt down instantly. This was when I realized that a good chain had started in my life, and I had to continue doing good to others, especially being financially there for them.

I appreciate your time around here❤️:-)

In the same way, if there is a person who has good morals, he will help others a lot. If he is rich, he will still help. To help other people so that their lives can be better.
