Oily Photo Fun!!!

Oil bubble photography may be my new favorite thing right now. It is so much fun to experiment with different colored backdrops, textures, and drop sizes to create amazing abstract images.

I just got in my Petri dishes last night so of course, I had to get right to work getting some photos.

Using two different sheets of colored paper is how I was able to create the gradients of color in the background. I really like how the bubbles will also refract the color giving an amazing sense of depth to the image.

To get the creamy effect I actually placed some bubble wrap over the paper. This is an effect that I will try out in my other photography.

Adding dish soap to the water can help break up and flatten out the oil bubbles creating a different look as well.

Another idea is to swirl up the mixture to get a real organic look to the pictures.

You never know what you are going to get and that is part of the fun of this type of photography. (This was one of my favorite shots from last night).
I hope this has encouraged you to try out some oil bubble photography and as always thank you for taking the time to check out my work.
