Let's Talk About the Changes in our World Today as A Woman || LOH #104

The world keeps changing both for good and for bad. It's indeed an era of change but we will keep hoping for a better change! Looking back on the years past, I see a lot of notable changes, especially on the part of women. Thanks to @joanstewart for this week's topic for our ladies. She has made it easy for every participant to choose her age bracket and reflect on the changes so far and so here is my suitable question for the week👇👇

30 years ago, what do you remember as a woman -vs- what is happening in the world today? One memory and what the change has been whether positive or negative.

Traveling back 30 years ago, I was still 3 years old then but I can still remember one noticeable change in the part of women today. Before I discuss this particular memory, I will love to mention other areas I have seen a great change in women that I love which are fashion, acquiring assets, working in big firms, taking some sensitive positions in the government establishment, and offices, financing home needs, remote jobs even as a stay at home mom and so on. These are notable good changes I have observed so far.

30 years back, I can still remember vividly how my twin brother and I will toil the whole bush fetching firewood for my mom to cook. Then in my part of the world, a gas cooker is not commonly mentioned...the only language we understand is firewood to get our food done..lolz.

With the smoke, it's all about pollution everywhere, inhaling the smoke can be harmful to our health but we got no choice but to do that daily to eat. Gradually we moved into using charcoal to cook.

The use of charcoal becomes a bit better but yet, causes pollution as well. Getting food done with this method of cooking is not always fast when compared to the cooking gas we enjoy today though it's more affordable.

Cooking with a stove was another thing some people does then, but it was mostly people that can afford to buy kerosene then. I remember the day my mom bought a stove, she hides it in her room and told us that it wasn't meant for regular use..lol.and that we should continue fetching firewood for cooking.

The picture is mine

This particular stove here was one of my wedding gifts. Honestly, I was so surprised to receive this package as my wedding gift in 2014. I was like, this gifter doesn't want me to enjoy this modern change 😂😂, but then I discovered she meant well to me. She is an old woman and a very good friend of mine back then as a child. To her I should graduate from firewood to stove😂, she hasn't heard of the gas cooker as of then and I so much value the love she showered on me.

Nowadays, it's all about gas cookers... making cooking easier and faster, and neater for my gender.

However, I must confess that it's super expensive compared to our local way of cooking but I am still glad knowing that a lot has improved in this area, thanks to advancing technology and innovation.

To date, some people, especially in rural areas, still use their firewood, charcoal, and stove to cook but many already grabbed the tech vibe. To me, this particular change is a positive change despite the cost.

This is my entry to the LADIES OF HIVE COMMUNITY CONTEST #104 and I will love to invite @otuyanancy and @princessbusayo to participate.

Many thanks for visiting my blog!

Modern method of cooking nowadays is a positive change because gas cooker or electric stove has nothing to do with pollution unlike charcoal or firewood.

Exactly my dear...if only the cost of filling gas will be subsidized, everyone will enjoy this change in fullness

Yes oo, the good that using gas cooker has done can't be overemphasized at all. Then I know most of our parents at a very your age are already having eye problems because of their exposure to smoke from firewood, thank God for the technology that has come and made things easier for us women that are mostly in the kitchen.

This is a really great change and I know there are more to come.

Not only eye 👁️ problem, some have chest issues associated with constant exposition of smoke. However it depends on ones health condition but the truth is that inhaling smoke all the time is very harmful. I love this particular change and I wish many families even in the rural areas can afford it

That's right, some in the rural areas are still yet to enjoy these things, I hope they get access to these things soon enough.

that's nice :) During big events where hundreds of people need to be fed here in the locality, people use firewood to cook food. Thank you too :)

Wedding gift of kerosene cooker always a great backup if gas runs out, compact little stove easily packed or taken with you should you enjoy camping too.

All forms for cooking still very much in use here in South Africa depending on where you live, sometimes one suits an occasion switching between one to another.

Sure...it's a super backup when I run out of gas. Just not the major source of cooking due to the change we embrace today.😊🥰

Many thanks for your visit ma

Gas is cleaner, faster much more efficient than anything else I have cooked on here we have a dual stove with fan electricity oven and gas top burners that I find exceptionally helpful.

Yea,they are just exceptional
However, some women in the rural areas believe that food cooked with fire wood is more tasty 😋 and so they refused to embrace the modern source of cooking 😂😂.... individual differences though

Some people can't afford to buy a gas cooker but firewood doesn't require you to spend money, you can easily go to the bush and fetch some firewood.

Although gas might be expensive but it makes cooking a lot more easier and faster and it doesn't bring smoke to the house.

Things had really improve from years past and more inventions are yet to come.😜😜

Thanks for the invite

Yesoo Nancy
Firewood is more affordable just the smoke is my problem with it and how stressful and messy it can be.

Gas cooker is a life saver...I wish it can be more affordable to the users

Omoh! So true!
Receiving a stove as a wedding gift... that gifter wanted you to know that it's not yet outdated...and although gas cooker can be very addictive because one it doesn't mask your cooking utensils like pot, kettle and frying pan with dirts from smoke. But stove is similar to it although if properly adjusted it won't.

It amazes me to see some people still using firewoods to date especially Yoruba women who cook for a big celebration ...one believe they say is that the smoke makes the rice taste like a party rice 😂.

Back then in those days firewood was the major way of cooking thanks to the change in the world today... interesting piece

The gifter eehh 😂😂
I love it though...my back up sometimes but I had to set the wools to avoid messing up my pot 😂

Yesss...those Yoruba women has refused to use the gas oo, they believe that food taste better with fire wood even my grandma once said it ..lol

For me...I move with the change..no time.
Thanks so much for visiting 🤗🥰👍

I think there's also a price to convenience. I think I have a Hive/Steemit post about this topic years ago called "The Tyranny of Convenience".

Tho we love how tech made life easier for us, sometimes it's actually more meaningful to work hard on some things... like cooking using firewood/charcoal or cooking from scratch instead of using Microwave. Humans bond together this way.
