Fruit week activities with my son and his mates in school

The idea of this project was to remind both the parents and the students of the need to consume fresh fruits more often than the sugary snacks given to our children while going to school. So the school administrators created a WhatsApp group for all parents, and before they embarked on this project, they sought the parents' cooperation, and of course we gave them the support needed to see that the project was successful. Parents were also invited during the one-week "fruit" week in the school, but it was optional.

Prior to the fruit week that ended yesterday, the school already gave the pupils a little project on the theme "fruit." This project was meant for the preschoolers, and so my son, who is in pre-school 2,about to enter primary school and was fully involved in the project. While they were on midterm break in February last month, they did their little project on fruits in preparation for the practical fruit week handled by a nutritionist who the school hired. Find below the nature of the midterm project they did:

If you look at the above screenshot closely, you can read what the project was all about from my conversation with my son's teacher. My son did his work so neatly and with so much enthusiasm; unfortunately, I forgot to snap the project. My bad! This was unlike me as a blogger; it shouldn't happen again!

So the activities began on Monday this week and continued until Friday. Each day, parents were tasked with bringing a particular kind of fruit to school. The first day was an adequate tutorial on the importance of fruits in our health. They also explained to the pupils the benefits of each fruit available during the exercise. From the second to the last day, there were practicals and demonstrations for the pupils on how to make fruit salad and smoothies.

The students were also given guidance on how to cut the fruits into smaller pieces before blending.

This was the part my son loved so much because I don't allow him to use a knife at home, but he was allowed by his teacher with guidance. He didn't stop expressing his happiness—cutting those fruits in a hurry. Many pupils were engaged, and I guess it's a good way to get them to learn it fast, not only by observing but by placing their hands in doing the work themselves.

These people are my son's class. Both preschoolers one and two joined the exercise.

These two women are the nutritionists who practically handled the project. They indeed did a nice job.

My son was able to explain all the procedures to make both fruit salad and smoothies and also mentioned the health benefits of each fruit they used.

For many parents that couldn't make it to join the exercise, the school did well to carry everyone along through the WhatsApp group they created.

In my opinion, this is a good project to encourage healthy living as well and should be done in all schools if possible. Parents, on the other hand, should also reduce their intake of sugary things and the way we make our children consume those sugary snacks more often for a healthier lifestyle.

I love this project, and I will support it again if they come up with it next time.

That's all for the fruit activities.

Please note: all photos are from my phone's gallery, and I have the permission of my son's school administrator to use them.

I really appreciate your time on my blog.Have a lovely and relaxing weekend over there❤️.

Omo! This is a wonderful initiative and this would definitely excites children. I know your son was so happy holding the knife and at that moment, him and the others would want to do their best so they could be appraised for a good job.

This should continue in all schools as a way to encourage children and parents of healthy living. Taking sugary things aren't okay for us, it has to be limited because of the side effects.

My dear...I really love this initiative differently. Encouraging healthy living should is a nice program to embrace. It also gave parents a gentle reminder to reduce the intake of sugary products.

Thank you so much for your nice comment
