FEELING REJECTED? THERE IS A WAY OUT!

Rejection is inevitable. It comes to people in different ways, however, the feeling of being rejected is always too hard to deal with. It could be your business proposal that got rejected, it could also be relationship, competition or perhaps a friendship request. Whichever situation you got rejected for, I see it as an opportunity to re-evaluate and scrutinize different paths, probably you might get a better opportunity.

Let me share with you my rejection story, and how I coped and overcome the hurt.

If you have been following my blog, you must have known me as one who engages in different kinds of business just to make ends meet. Living in Lagos state Nigeria, you need to hustle to meet up with the cost of living. I love it more when I can assist my husband with numerous financial loads and this is my driving force to engage in some legal business, striving for different streams of income 👌

I had a business chit-chat with one of my close friends and she told me how the cleaning job has been paying her big time. At first, I didn't pick an interest, I was like how on earth can I go and start doing a cleaning job at this stage in my life considering a lot of home responsibilities? Then, she told me that to do a cleaning job, you must not necessarily clean yourself, just get the equipment/materials needed, hire professional cleaners and then source for all these developers that build new houses every time, negotiate with them and if they are good with your price and services, then you are good to go!

That sounds interesting and boom, I keyed into the idea, bought some materials needed, contacted some professional cleaners, and went hunting for a client who will give me the cleaning contract. Luckily enough, I found one within a short time. The man and I bargain the price and reached an agreement. I requested an advance payment at least to cover some materials we will be using but he said that money 🤑 wouldn't be a problem and that we should start first. Hmmm, as a beginner who is looking for clients, I didn't want to say no but rather organized my workers to get ready for D-Day. The day came and I took the young guys to the location, just about the time the guys should begin their job, the client looked into my face and said we should not worry! I am changing my decision.

What! Is that a dismissal or what? He said he doesn't want the service again from me and my workers and that I should bear with him. No valid reasons, he just rejected my service just like that 🥲.

Was I able to cope with this rejection?

Of course, I did cope with it. Though I felt so hurt, then I told myself that rejection is not a certificate to stop trying. I started filling my mind with positive words, instead of dwelling on the past, I moved forward by reaching out to other developers who later accepted my services as it is, and gave me a job with higher pay. I was relieved of the previous pain and smiled again😇.

In conclusion, when you are rejected by anyone or your lover, or a company, remember that it's not the end for you. Dust yourself, remain focused, positive, and move ahead!
