BACK-TO-SCHOOL SHOPPING ON A MARKET FRIDAY

avatar
(Edited)

Today is #market Friday initiated by @dswigle. It's usually a day where hivians share their market experiences and culture across the globe🌎

It's been a pretty long vacation for students both in the nursery, primary and high school. The beginning of a new session is here and so parents are warming up in preparation for school resumption this September. As for my kids, they will be resuming school on the 6th of September 2022 and that's a few days away from todayπŸ€—.

Getting to the market to purchase some of the academic materials they needed, I discovered that the inflation we have been experiencing seems to be higher in educational materials πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. The prices of books, school bags, shoes, etc are too exorbitantπŸ€πŸ€πŸ˜”. In fact, it was a mixed feeling, I was sad and at the same time had no option but to buy anyways. Education is the best investment one can do for his or her children and so it becomes so necessary to stretch ourselves to give our kids the best. The prices of things currently are almost times two of what I bought the last term and at this point, I can only say that it will get better hopefully πŸ˜‚

Let me take you through the things I bought in preparation for the school resumption πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ˜Š

This section is for coloring materials and bought one pack for my son in nursery 2 at the rate of $3.

I moved to the recommended number and grammar textbooks for his class and I bought each at $4 and 1/2 each!

IMG20220829115828.jpg

I thought that ordinary pencil and eraser will be cheap but all seem to be competing with the price increase

IMG20220829115853.jpg

The exercise book was not left out in the high cost. Imagine buying a dozen of 80leaves exercise books at the rate of #3,200 that's about $5 plus

IMG20220829120137.jpg

Here comes the lunch box😊, my Second son already told me several times to buy a cartoon character bag for him specifically spider man, glad I saw it though it was costly tooπŸ˜”, bought it #5,000 and that's about $8 or thereabout

IMG20220829120349.jpg

My first son who is in primary has to purchase some compulsory books in school according to his teacher and so got only a few for him. I noticed that he struggles with spelling, so I got this spelling book for $2 for him

IMG20220829121010.jpg

Also got this queen's primer for my second son in nursery 2 to enhance his reading skills.

IMG20220829120919.jpg

At the sight of this bible story, I didn't hesitate to buy it too because they needed it as well, and not only for academicsπŸ˜‚. This cost $4

IMG20220829121223.jpg

It's been a while since I planned to purchase a whiteboard for home lessons. Seeing this at the market, I was pushed to buy but the price scared me awayπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚, #15,000...I had to postpone buying it till further noticeπŸ˜‚

IMG20220829120748.jpg

One thing I noticed in the shopping was that people that shopped for school items sometimes in August got it cheaper, but now that the resumption is closer, marketers had added more money πŸ’΅ because they are sure of high demands and purchases. It's a lesson learned anyways, shopping earlier curbs unnecessary expenses if the cash is available πŸ‘Œ

Aside from the educational materials being more expensive currently, so many schools here in Nigeria also increased their school fees by 35%. Hopefully, parents will still survive this by God's grace.

That will be all for my market Friday experience from my part of the world, Lagos State Nigeria!

Thanks for visiting my blog!!

Remember to keep staying positive and be happy πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜‡πŸ₯°β€πŸ§‘πŸ€—

Wow! Look how colorful everything is looking 😍... I'm happy to know that despite the inflation and hardship, you still strived to ensure you get quality back-to-school items for your kids.

Soon they'll grow up and make you proud and you'll begin to reap the fruits of your labour.

Well done on the market shopping ma!πŸ’•πŸ’žπŸ˜Š

This week is a big weekend here in the US! This weekend is Labor Day. The calendar calls for the end of summer and we will be closing it out with a large family picnic. While I have read through all the #MarketFriday posts, most twice, just because I really enjoy most of the posts. I happen to love the fact that I get so many high-quality posts, and the effort shows through. This week, some of you won't get the personal message I enjoy writing. I am running behind on time and I don't want to skip anyone's upvote or the reading of your post.

I hope you know how much it means to me to have so many people joining in on the fun. Hopefully, you will have learned a few more different ways to present #MarketFriday easier to present. I know some have already been thinking outside of the box and some use their market day - either way is great and I love it either way. Thank you, thank you for supporting #MarketFriday!

I have personally found there is always so much to learn about people, where they live, and how things are done in different parts of the world. For me, reaching out across the globe and learning about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, has been such a rewarding experience. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the rituals, festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... and what is normal for us? There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. We do differ in many ways, which makes us interesting and unique, but, there are many ways in which are so much alike.

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:

Rules of the Road to Join #MarketFriday!

  1. Go to the market, or anywhere that you pay money for a service.
    Take pictures! Be creative!
  2. Tell us a little bit about the market or the event. What brought you there? What did you buy? How much did it cost? Was it expensive or cheap? Did it go up or down? Please do not post 30 pictures with no words about them.Do not use pictures more than once in a post!
  3. Post the pictures. Of course, you should tell a little bit about the ones you post, it is too difficult to guess on some
    4. #MarketFriday must be your first tag.
Use the MarketFriday Community Platform to post (#hive-196308) This is not required but appreciated.
    5. PLEASE Drop the link into the MarketFriday comment section so I can find it!!
  4. Following me and reblogging the post would be appreciated, but not a rule, more vision for more views on the #MarketFriday posts!
    7. You must put #MarketFriday by @dswigle somewhere on your post.
As always, please remember! #MarketFriday loves you!

School materials are no longer cheap again. And the price of everything is rising. I can imagine the prices when they reach secondary school. Us that we're yet to have kids, hmm. Hopefully it's better then.

Just be gathering plenty dollars πŸ’°, by the time you will start bearing children, investment will be there already in their names and you won't feel the bad economy anymore.

Thanks for the royal visit πŸ‘πŸ€—πŸ€—
