The talent in me is in-built

These skills in me seem more born with than I imagined it learnt. It drifted into something I do without stress, it all flows from within me and passes the moment with a lot achieved. Though both my skills are learned, now I feel like I’m born with both. Though I’m a man of multiple talents, yet I can’t trade in practicing taekwondo nor being a phone engineer for other things. Surprisingly I came into practicing both skills almost at the same time.

How I came to be a taekwondo player and coach. The interest wasn’t just mine alone, my Dad is a lover of the sport too. Seeing me in the sports line wasn’t surprising for him at all, he supported me fully. It took long enough to discover both talents but for taekwondo it was an opportunity seized and I’m happy I did.

Around 2013 back in school on the campus I jog early in the morning on my school pavilion but longer rounds over the weekend though I stay off campus so, I judged all the way from my hostel to the campus, exercising then back. Then came a long distance race, it was a free entry but tagged along with items to be won. The distance to be covered was far enough to be called a marathon, it was organized over the weekend. My friends came running to my door, they all wanted me in the marathon. I told them I would love to participate, but I wasn’t aware until now. I said I wasn’t going to participate but later I registered as a late participant and in the long run I won the second best prize. That was how I met my taekwondo coach, coach Peter at Dubar Stadium somewhere in Oyo state, Nigeria. He approached softly and said “you got a lot in you yet to be out, you mind paving yourself a way out? I was happy I got an invite into the sport. Though the distance was a barrier for me then I had to fix my schedule to fit in as well because I got my primary duty of schooling at hand too, althou my father has once introduce me to a coach when i was young and bullied in school but we never last because i had to move to another state.

I got so many thoughts in my mind. The one that kept me moving more was the fact that I remembered how I was bullied in my secondary school days. I'm happy I could learn defence, surprisingly my coach kept saying the sport is for defence, never attack or fight anyone outside the training zone. That got me weak because I was already plotting possible revenge if anything like bullying comes my way again in my life. Along the line I fell deeper in love with d sport, i went for competitions within and outside my schooling state, there was this particular competition at Ibadan my first ever taekwondo prize to be won was silver thanks to that competition I levelled up and work my way through it professional ranking system and know I’m a proud coach in taekwondo with my own registered training centre with more than 20 students and lot of competition lost and won.

Around the same time I tried improving or do I say I worked on getting certified in my engineering talent. I have always loved surfing the web, reading in and out of how things came to being. I went through different phones and their possible functions, any setting problems on the soft core within a flash I’m done fixing it. Then came a day I needed a tool to open up a phone though I wasn’t sure of what I was doing yet I believe I can fix it. Then I walked up to an engineer within my locality and pleaded he give me the tool required. He smiled at my confidence and asked if I had actually fixed something like what I’m holding in hand before, I politely said no but I was sure I could fix it. He wanted to see the outcome of my confidence too and played along while he was guiding me through instead of just leaving me to my confidence. We worked it through and behold it came through but not for long.

The engineer popularly known as second touch saw this talent in me and said I can learn more if I really want to improve. As always my dad was supportive. He cleared my training Bill and my phone engineer journey started. I happened to be the best of my colleagues in software engineering before I began improving on the hardware, it took me three good years for my training along with taekwondo and schooling to complete my phone engineering practice.

Here I’m today, phone engineer Moremoney. I deal in phone accessories, sell phones, and make phone repairs. With God’s help I’m best at what I do.
