Mixed cropping helping us maximize available farming space

Hello Hive

Recently we have been faced with challenges of acquiring more farming space. Most of our lands have now been converted into spaces for building homes and estates.
The contractors care less if the soil is water logged or not, they are more than ready to use rocks to create a raft or pile foundations before building a home.

Unless we are ready to migrate the land space available for farming has been reduced drastically.

We are now forced to maximize every land space available for farming .

There are advantages and disadvantages of mixed farming but we have to weigh our chances and opt for the best choice.

Checkout how this beans and corn are growing pretty well.

We plant a specie of corn that won't last upto 3months and when this has reached 2month growing stage, we go ahead and plant the bean.

This is a large seed specie of beans that spends only about 40days to 2month and then they are ready to be harvested.

The beans will be barely a month old when the corn will be fully roped and harvested go give bean more room for expansion.

You can only plant leguminous food along side cereal in order to replenish soil fertility. A combination of corn and bean or corn and groundnut.

Agric engineering has helped alot in reducing the life cycle of beans to about 2 instead of 3month above.

We now have better seeds that makes farming easier.
I have planted series of corn this year, a very large space for the maize challenge by @felixx while I have other corn planted in between our yam, groundnut, beans, cassava and other crops we have planted.

This is what I wanted for a very long time, mixed cropping, I hope I can do it next summer.
