Public Transport Drama

Although the state I live in (i.e Kwara State) isn't as dangerous as some states in Nigeria because things are relatively easy and likewise less stressful here cause my state isn't as crowded when compared to other states in Nigeria. Nevertheless, you need not to slack over things because you might be robbed and left stranded without any clue at all.

Boarding public transport has been my thing since I was in Junior secondary school because my school was along major high way in Kwara state which is far away from home. So if I'm not careful enough with my transport fare or someone stole it from me, then I'm in serious trouble. My parents purposely enrolled my siblings and I in schools far away from home so as to train us to be smart and bold enough to board public transports by ourselves.

At first I was scared when I started going to school, but along the line I got use to it because I know been in secondary school is six years journey that I can't avoid. I can proudly say during my school days, I didn't lose my money for a day, I'm always careful and guided whenever I'm in public transport.

So been at alert at all times has been my thing since my secondary school days, you can't just move towards me anyhow while in public transport that I wouldn't know you have aim/aims towards me. I have some funny experience with public transport and I'm going to share one with you for the prompt.

I boarded a bus sometimes ago from an area called post office in my state to my area (offa garage). The bus was a 10-seated bus and the back sit was filled remaining the middle sit, so I sat in between a guy to my left and a lady to my right. When the bus was in motion, I noticed the guy by my left was using every possible means to rest his hand on me and whenever the bus climbed a bump, he would move closer to me as if he's my boyfriend or someone related to me.

At first I looked at his face and he looked away like nothing had happened. So I concluded that it might be a mistake, but deep inside me, I know d guy has aims which I'm not sure of. So I removed my transport fare from my bag, then put my phone inside my bag and zipped it very well so that I will know the guy's aim. Only for me to notice a movement on my thigh, lo and behold it was this guy's hand rubbing his hand on my left thigh.

I smiled, but I don't know maybe he thought I was enjoying the harassment, so he also smiled which makes me confirm that the guy doesn't want my money or phone but he wants me. So I concluded in my mind that I will disgrace him before I highlighted from the bus if he continued his hidden agenda.

My plan for him was aborted when the lady that sat at my right hand side got down from the bus and this allowed me to move away from his side. I was pained because I've planned in my mind to give him a public disgrace in the bus but the lady saved him. While I was shifting away from him, I gave him a horrible look which makes him looked away till I got down from the bus.

I can never forget what happened that day because it has lived rent-free in my head and I won't love to experience such harassment again.
