Navigating The Intersection Of Work And Relationships

I've learnt that mixing business with pleasure doesn't always end well. It's either at the end you'll lose your business or your relationship .

My Simple advice is Before venturing into any business with your loved ones, ask yourself if you can cope with that person's personality, is that person trustworthy? Can I count on him or her at least 70%? If anything goes wrong, will my partner take responsibility or rather run away, can I cope if at some point my partner decides to run away with the money. Can I sacrifice my relationship for this at some point? If not then just chill.

Trust me when I say when money is involved, people tend to change and forget about their relationship with people.
Like the saying goes "money is the root of all evil"

So here's a true life story.

My sister's friend had been talking about starting a crayfish and palm oil business, because over here at that time , it was considered a very lucrative business. She had the money and everything , but the problem was that she wasn't based in Bayelsa so she needed someone who would help her buy and sell off the crayfish and palm oil here.

Okay so here's the thing, she already had her customers because she Works at Local Content and knows so many prominent men and women in the state. Her clients were already set for her, all she needed was someone who was based in Bayelsa, and into the business and could help her distribute the goods.

She came over to the house one day and was talking about it to my sister, how she planned on starting a business here in Bayelsa, but she won't be available to sell off the goods herself so she needed someone to help her with that. She and my sister started talking and I left the parlour and didn't know how their conversation ended that day.

Fast forward to some months after, she called my sister on the phone and was crying, we were all worried because my sister was also worried. After she ended the call,I asked my sis what the problem was and she said Cynthia's best friend ran away with her goods and money.
She said she has been trying to reach her for a very long time but she isn't answering.
I was shocked , because how can her so-called bestie do such a thing to her?

I told my sis not to worry that maybe it's because of bad signal, only for her to tell me that Cynthia has been trying to reach her for more than a week now and she isn't answering her calls.

My sister was so furious because everything that was lost was worth more than ₦ 1 million which was surprising to me.

Because you are family or besties doesn't mean they won't steal from you.

Now let's talk about how she ended up doing business with her bestie.

She told her best friend about her business idea and her best friend said she would love to work with her.
She didn't buy the idea at first, so she told my sis about it, and obviously my sister was against the idea of partnering with her best friend . My sister told her it would have been better working with someone who had been in that line before to help her with the business rather than her best friend who knows nothing about the trading.

The story was so long they kept going back and forth, only to find her best friend in Warri after almost three months of searching.
She later said she was robbed and that was how she lost everything.

Well I did not believe her, because she wouldn't have said anything if she wasn't caught.
The two besties don't even see eye to eye again, theyre arch enemies now.

I would rather keep my relationship with my loved ones than go into business with them, because at some point in time, you'd have to sacrifice one over the other.

Eyaah!
Money has the power to change anyone. This is why people refer to money as a spirit.

Business before pleasure!
That's the main deal because money has huge capacity to tear apart relationships. It's unfortunate Cynthia has to experience that from her bestie. Betrayal is real we need to be more vigilant 🙌🎊

Doing business with loved ones is terrible, I can never try anything like that, when money is involved they become different people entirely.

That is very correct. Your bestie can steal from your business if you trust them too much that you open all doors leading to your business. We need to add causion when dealing with our business.

Lol I won’t let the bestie off like that. She will pay me everything up to the last kobo! 1 million Naira is not chise and when it comes to money and foul play I refuse to know person lol. I hope your sister’s friend was able to gather her self financially afterwards. Sha lesson learned never to repeat the same mistake.

She had alot more than she had lost, but it was just the fact that her friend that's almost like a sister to her could have the mind to do such a thing to her, I think that was what pained her the most

Honestly, sometimes life uses people as example for others to learn.

People can really change when money is involved. I feel bad for her seeing how she lost her money because she decided to trust her friend.

It hurts that people close to us are sometimes the ones who won't hesitate to see our downfall.

Yes it does, and it's always not for the better most times.
If ever you want to lend, just don't expect to get it back. If they do its fine and if they don't it's also fine.
Thank you for reading😊
