How Much Freedom Is Too Much Freedom?

This question came to mind when I saw the edition topic, I've actually had a thought about this sometime ago but didn't go into much thought as I felt I didn't have much freedom to do whatever I wanted so there was no need to think I had too much freedom to be worried about.

Yes, one should be worried about having too much freedom because there are a lot of negatives with having too much freedom.

Freedom is being free from worries, having the liberty to not make choices or facing no difficulty in your living... It is excess freedom when you don't have to worry about what comes next, what your decision would cause or have no consideration for how others are being affected by your no actions. It's a good thing to be free but when your freedom begins to pose threats to your essence of living, it becomes dangerous.

It is too much freedom when you get too lazy

Being lazy is an evidence of freedom being wrongly used, becoming too lazy and no one to question it is freedom being too much. While it may have less effect on things to get done around, it will have more bad psychological effect on the person who is in this situation. One who is lazy is one who thinks there's nothing to do and that is because they refuse to think up something to do... They become brain dead to be creative.

They are only free to be free and that will result in them doing just those things that are not meant to be done at the wrong times. Not having enough on your plate aside being free will condition your mind to remain inactive. This is bad considering how the human brain is made to keep working for one to live long.

Too much freedom can lead to the soul's decay

It's a quote I came across and I couldn't agree more with it considering the first negative I shared about being too free. Imagine having your kids do whatever they like as far to the kind of friends they keep, the time they go to bed and the time they choose to study... Any of them could take a disadvantage to this and it will backfire to you by losing your peace of mind freedom later.

One can be free but not without a motivation to do something especially when it's urgent. Ignoring those little things to be done and making your mind stop thinking about things that should be thought about could lead to a decay that won't have a good result on your essence of living as a human.

Too much freedom can be avoided, avoid it

You can be free but be mindful of the extent you can go with that freedom as one could barely tell when freedom is the main cause of a problem. A free mind should be channeled to creativity, do the work and flee from laziness (what freedom tends to present as a plater of gold).

Even those who were in captivity had nothing like total freedom if not, they'd be slaves again to freedom. Be free but don't think or act too freely... Your words aren't free once they are out but your thoughts are free, know when to be careful with the freedom that you have.

I agree with this, I think the term freedom means we are free to be creative to decide what to do next but being lazy is we don't have anything to do

Great Post, Upvoted :)

Exactly, so we must be sure to know what kind of freedom we are letting in.

Thanks for the support ❤️

Too much freedom that a person has can also be a problem, you are right, just as you have pointed out in the case of children, a child needs guidance, allowing kids to keep bad friends would be a problem, it is cause by too much freedom, despite having freedom is essential, man should know what to do at any point in time, so that not to allow freedom becomes a problem.

You've said it all in few sentences, freedom can be a problem if not properly handled

Imagine having your kids do whatever they like

It will be a very big disaster for such parent, such child is likely to misbehave which will make him/her and the parent regret the outcome.
Everything should be done in modesty I guess.

Imagine having your kids do whatever they like

There was a holiday I thought that my kids have worked hard all through the finished term. I remember depriving them of watching TV for weeks and playing outside the compound. Holiday came, and I told them that they are free to play as they like, watch TV as they want...hmmmm, I didn't know what I was thinking before making such statement 😳😳...you needed to watch the drama unfold through CCTV camera 😂😂... wooooot, they turned my house upside down in the name of play...they disturbed the neighbours with so much noise...then at night, they will remain glued with the TV till midnight 🤦...oh boy, I came back to my senses asap and made my home rule stand again. The moment they realized that there is once again a functional rule, they behaved...

Too much of everything is bad...too much freedom can always result to so much negativity to many...there should be some level of restrictions...I learned in a hard way through my experience with my kids

Lol children will always be children 🤣
They will be like "Mummy said we can do whatever we like" anytime they want to overdo something 😂

Abuse is inevitable when something or someone is free too much

Anything that we do that can affect us or others negatively is no long good, even if it is permissible.

It is within our hands to know to what degree we should put a full stop to our freedom and to what degree we should keep pushing. People abuse a lot of privileges all in the name of right.

How can a normal person, sit and do nothing simply because you have all at your disposal, common sense should let you know that, one day those the person, giving you those things won't be there anymore.

Some parents are funny, they think allowing their children do whatever they want to do is love, but that is a very dangerous thing any parent can grant their children. Inasmuch as the children need their space too, there should be limit.

There's nothing more to add to this, you've said it even better... Freedom isn't a yardstick to do nothing but to actually get things done in the right way and at the right time.

Too much freedom can be the same thing as staying in our comfort zone and if there's one thing I know about comfort zones, we will never grow if we remain there, and that's basically one of the things that can lead to soul's decay

Oh yeah! You said that right! We'll be stuck in comfort zones 🤦‍♀️

Something that many are unaware of is that freedom carries responsibility. Those who enjoy freedom, understand this... others simply become lazy when given freedom. It needs to be preserved.

That is a very good point you added... Freedom comes with responsibility and not just the word "free" hehe

You are absolutely right here, we should be free, but don't act too freely as there might be consequences attached to it

Can too much freedom be avoided, even if it is avoidable?

Humans are social animals it takes high level of discipline for any human to willingly give up or restrict the amount of freedom they enjoy.

According to theory x and y by Stacy Adams, she believes humans prefer pleasure to work regardless on the circumstances.

I don't think humans are capable of controlling themselves against the urge of freedom that result to laziness only if a system is put in place to force humans into action.
