Mt Soledad Memorial - San Diego, CA [EN/PT-BR]

Hello!

I finally was able to get another flight this week. The weather here has been bad lately. Here in SoCal the weather in late spring and early summer is usually cloudy and cool, we call it June Gloom. This year we had a few weeks without a break. But the sun is out this week and I took my DJI mini 2 out.

This is Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial. The memorial is a landmark that has a cross on top of Mt. Soledad, a 823ft (251m) mountain located in the community of La Jolla.

This cross has been the reason of a long litigation about its legal status. For those who oppose to having the cross there, it is illegal to have a religious symbol in public land. Long story short, the Mt. Soledad Memorial Association bought the land where the cross is from the federal government, ending its unconstitutionality.

The view at the top of Mt. Soledad is amazing, as you can see on the pictures, we can see all the way from Mission Bay to Torrey Pines.

Finalmente consegui fazer mais um voo essa semana. O tempo aqui tem estado ruim. O final da primavera e inicio do verão no sul da California normalmente é de tempo frio e nublado, nós chamamos de Junho da Melancolia. E esse ano foram varias semanas sem abrir, mas o sol saiu essa semana e eu peguei o meu DJI mini 2 para um voo.

Esse é o Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial. O memorial é um marco com uma cruz no topo de Mt. Soledad, um morro com aproximadamente 251m de altura, localizado no bairro de La Jolla.

Essa cruz foi motivo de processos na justiça por muito tempo sobre a legalidade dela. Para aqueles que se opuseram ao memorial, um símbolo religioso não pode ser construído em terras públicas. Resumindo a história, a Associação do Mt Soledad Memorial comprou as terras, onde está localizado o memorial, do governo federal e terminou com o processo.

A vista do alto de Mt. Soledad é impressionante, como voce pode ver nas fotos, é possível ver tudo desde Mission Bay até Torrey Pines.
