Splinterland's Top 1% in NFTs April 2023

With tax reports coming due I was curious how the net worth of individuals stands today in Splinterlands. It turns out that a staggering amount have zero to $1 worth of cards in their accounts. Almost an exact of 50%.

Then there is almost 1/4 of the total amount of players having just $1 to $10 in net worth. In total that makes 75% of the accounts worth almost nothing.

A Million Net Worth?

The numbers are just based on owning Splinterlands NFTs. We end up without seeing anyone with over $1 million in net worth if cards alone were counted. While it is less than 1% of all players who have at least $10k or more in net worth.

It did not help that overall market cap of the NFT collection fell from an all time high in 2021, but for now prices have stabilize. There is potential of prices to rise again as we have seen how recent land expansion has brought attention to the game.

In any case the one million simply is allusive for all but it may change down the road as demand for cards continue to rise which in turn likely rise in prices. Hopefully this plays out like so.

Overall

In the grand scheme of things it $78 out of the current $84 million are held by top 3.5% of players in the game. That is not ideal as there is not enough of a diversification in card ownership among all players.

This may rearrange itself when players combine other assets they held related to Splinterlands. Assets such as land plots, in game tokens of SPS, DEC, DECB and Vouchers. There are also new games unveiling even beyond land expansion such as Soul Keep. I am getting off a tangent but the idea here is that net worth for all seem to be in a upward trajectory no matter how we look at it. So although not many have hitting high markets in total value it is still rising. Then maybe in the future we will see many more over $10k in net worth and beyond up to over $1 million.s
