Hello readers,

If you love to play crypto-based games or like to invest in these types of web3 play2earn games, then you may know about Holozing, an upcoming 3D game currently being built in Hive blockchain and rumored to be launched later this year. Unlike most of the crypto games currently available in this realm, this game is proposing something that is attracting a lot of people into this project and even though this project is currently in its alpha stage, it already has thousands of registered users who are actively buying or earning Zing tokens, the main currency of this upcoming game.

As an old gamer myself, I have a keen interest in web3 games mainly because of their play2earn feature where the players stand a chance to earn for playing the game. But I admit most of the crypto games out there are just DeFi projects with a click-only interface on top where no matter if you can earn or not, you won't get a feeling of playing a game. But what this project offers has blown away my mind because from what they have shared on their official social handles, it will be a full-fledged 3D open-world game inspired by the world-famous digital game Pokémon. In this game, players will be called Healers and they can roam in an open world and capture wild mystic creatures, train them and use them to fight against other wild creatures or players. In its previous updates or posts on Twitter or Hive, the official Holozing has shared example 3D models of mystic creatures they are currently building, different types of starter (obtained from starter packs) creatures or wild (can be found only in the open world) creatures and evolved forms of some of them and a lot more, which indicates that they are pretty serious to make the next big gaming project in this crypto realm. That’s why I am bullish on this project and have been actively following all their updates while collecting Zing tokens meanwhile just to be ready with an upper hand when the game launches.

While the game development is still in its alpha phase and the first-ever starter pack sale will be launched soon, the developers are focusing their energy on building this game in such a way that ensures both active engagement and fairness among players. While there shall be a concept of player earnings implemented in the game, the importance of creating an ideal environment where every player has something meaningful at stake to prevent bots, farming or any such illegal behavior once the game goes live.

Recently, the Owner of the game @acidyo published a post regarding his vision of the possible game mechanism and the steps being taken to prevent such activities so that players get a healthy environment. He also shared his thoughts on the landscape of procedural web2 games, exclusively Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) as a prime example. If you also play CS: GO, you know that players earn experience points (XP) through the gameplay, with limitations to prevent excessive leveling up. In CS, Rewards come in the form of loot boxes containing weapon skins, however, the odds of getting a good in-game item are so low that most of the time one only gets disappointment. Even with loot boxes bought with real money doesn't have significantly higher chances to get such cool skins or other items but what makes CS: GO apart from other existing web2 games is its marketplace that allows players to trade their skins for tokens that can further be used to buy other in-game items of the same game or any other available in the platform, but they can not be sold for real money.

Now, gamers know the problem with such online web2 competitive games is using cheats or aimbots which gives an illegal advantage to its users, which often results in unreal progression and achievements within the game. Now for in-game XP and reputation earned, they hold little to no real-world value compared to tradable assets like skins. So cheaters often trade them to other safe accounts before using the aimbots or other hacks, so that even if they get caught and banned, the valuable skins are safe in that other account. Acidyo also shared a scenario where let’s say a Player possesses in-game assets worth $10,000 but one day surrenders to the temptation to cheat in a tournament. In this case, by transferring or selling their assets to another account, the Player evades the way to lose his valuable skins. Though I am not a CS player, I used to play PUBG like a maniac some years ago and I also faced the same Situation where hackers used god speed, god health or God aim, etc hacks and this loophole highlights the need for a better system where player actions should be measured appropriately and follow consequences accordingly.

Collection Rewards

In Holozing, the team aims to address these types of issues by introducing a sophisticated approach to player rewards and accountability. In the game, the "Collection Rewards" system will be introduced after the starter pack sale to incentivize players to engage with the game from its alpha stages by offering them bonuses based on the rarity of creatures and items obtained in the game. This will not only reward collectors but also will develop a fair distribution of in-game tokens.

Soul-bound NFTs & Achievements

Moreover, the introduction of soul-bound NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) just like what we saw in another famous crypto game Splinterlands will add depth to player achievements. By completing certain accomplishments, players will be given unique, non-tradable tokens that will stay permanently in the original account only and will increase the value of that account over time. This way they want to create a system where players have "something to lose" if they ever engage in such unfair practices and not to mention that these soul-bound NFTs or tokens will have great advantages in-game or earning rewards that one may not risk of losing. There will be various achievements such as "1st day delegator" or "1st creature captured" etc which will not only showcase player accomplishments but also display a measure of commitment and integrity within the community.

Strict Anti Cheating Measures

Additionally, as Acidyo shared in his latest post, the approach for combating cheating in the game will certainly extend beyond procedural automated detection systems. They are thinking of giving power to players to report any suspicious behavior noticed to the official team, incentivizing their vigilance with rewards and acknowledgments. This collaborative effort not only enhances the integrity of our ecosystem but also fosters a sense of ownership among players. Moreover, once the Holozing playable beta version game launches, community feedback will play a crucial role in refining the reward systems and ensuring fairness for all participants.

Fair distribution

Last but not least, another great thing I would like to share is the inflationary nature of the Zing currency which ensures that early adopters are duly rewarded but without disadvantaging the latecomers who join the game at a later stage. While inflation may fluctuate, the main strategy here is to design or construct the game mechanism and reward distribution in such a way that maintains a fair balance of earning potentials for players and investors over time.
